MISSION STATEMENT

The New Charter of the University of the Philippines recognized the importance of the representation of the REPS and Administrative personnel and was allotted one seat in the Board of Regents.

Guided by the mandated purpose of the University, the Staff Regent share in the power and duties vested in the Board of Regents. As such, REPS and Administrative

personnel shall now be heard in all matters that the Board will decide, promulgate and implement.

Given the opportunity to sit as Staff Regent, it is my commitment to uphold and protect at all times the interest and welfare of REPS and Administrative personnel. I shall see to it that all policies affecting REPS and Administrative personnel shall be fair and reasonable and have been reached after all concerns were properly heard.

The three major issues that I would like to focus on are the following:

1. Ensure the effective implementation of the provisions of the Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) as approved by the University and the representatives of the bargaining unit;

2. Review the career path and promotion of REPS and administrative personnel e.g. that of the positions of REPS doing administrative work, administrative doing REPS functions, and those holding faculty-REPS position; standard guidelines for promotion, and

3. Review of staff privileges.

I shall address these issues through the promotion of a continuing system-wide staff consultation and thereby ensuring the advancement of the economic rights and welfare of the REPS and Administrative personnel.

With my deep involvement in policy analysis and formulation together with my legal

background, I am confident that I would be able to represent both the REPS and

Administrative sectors in the Board.
