Position: When a position is defined by sextant angles or bearings (true or magnetic specified) more than two should be used to provide a check. Latitude and longitude should only be used specifically to position the details when recorded by astronomical observations or GPS and a full description of the method, equipment and date used should be given. A new copy will be sent upon request to replace a card that has been used to transmit information, or when extensive observations have resulted in damage to the observer's card.

If it is desired that the changes appear on the maximum scale chart drawing (rather than on the chart itself), these should be red as above, but the relevant details from the chart should be drawn in black ink to accommodate corrections correctly. Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC): Screenshot of ENC in maximum use with changes and additions shown in red. Soundings: When soundings are conducted, it is important to ensure that all details of the collection method are included in this report.

Whether the sounder is set to detect depths below the surface or below the keel; in the latter case, the draft of the vessel must be indicated. The time, date and time zone should be given so that corrections for tidal height can be made if necessary, or a statement of what tidal corrections have already been made. For resonators using electronic "range tuning", care must be taken to ensure that the correct range scale and gate width are used.

Older electro-mechanical echo sounders often record signals from echoes received back after one or more rotations of the stylus have been completed. As a check that apparent ground soundings are not due to echoes received outside the set's nominal range, soundings should be continued until reasonable agreement with chart soundings is achieved. However, soundings received after one or more rotations of the stylus may still be useful and should be submitted if they show significant differences from the mapped depths.

Shortcomings should be highlighted and any firm expectation that we can check the information on a subsequent trip should be stated. Reports using this form and relevant data should be sent by mail to NAMRIA-Hydrography Branch, 421 Barraca St., San Nicolas, Manila or by email to Maritime.affairs@namria.gov.com and Maritime.concerns@gmail .com. To explain the use made of contributions from all parts of the world would be too great a task and further communication should only be expected if the information is of exceptional value or exhibits unusual features.

This form lists the information required for a Philippine Coastal Pilot and has been designed to assist the shipper and consignee. The sections should be used as a reminder to apply or closely monitor whenever appropriate.
