Dollinger (HAU Library ref: 658.421 D665) Course Description: This course focuses on the basic concepts and principles of entrepreneurship including the rudiments of business planning. At the end of the course, the student should be able to a) comprehend and appreciate the significance of entrepreneurship in relation to the setting up and managing an ongoing business venture, b) acquire the basic skill of identifying a business opportunity for both startup and ongoing business concerns, and c) write a simple business plan for a new or existing business venture. The course covers a framework for entrepreneurship, the significance of entrepreneurship in human development, entrepreneurship in the context of Philippine culture and development, entrepreneurial business environment analysis, the Philippine entrepreneurial environment with emphasis on micro-small- medium enterprises, and an integrative approach to the overall operations of the entrepreneurial venture . Key course topics include business opportunity identification and selection, marketing of goods and services, producing goods and services,
organizing the enterprise, and managing the financial aspects of the enterprise. These concepts shall be integrated in an appropriate business plan for a business opportunity which will be prepared by the student individually or with a group. The course will provide students with a foundation by which they can be able to utilize the knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship they have acquired by eventually setting up an enterprise or business as an alternative career opportunity.
