This may be due to growth in this industry due to the strong demand in this area. Therefore, the workplace displacement can be used for this study because of the lack of quality in public transport.

Stage of Life

Another topic related to traveling in Bangkok by public transport is changing jobs. Other factors that can change car ownership status can be, for example, getting a driver's license, which creates a desire to drive a car and leads to a demand to buy a car.

Income level

For example, in the family, where it consists of different kinds of members from older generation to children who are in education, the status of owning a car or more can be found. With regard to the family expansion, it also results in the change in the car's ownership status.

Social Status

Moreover, the study also mentioned the limitation of research related to the car ownership which results in the inaccuracy of the result on this matter. Income can nevertheless be seen as one of the most important factors for the acquisition of the car, regardless of the inadequacy of the previous related research. They mentioned some of the five factors that led the student in the city called Bandung to buy a car (Belgiawan, SCHMÖCKER and FUJII, 2002).

Therefore, the finding will result in highlighting the fact that social status is an important part of car ownership. This is because car ownership can be used as a reference when measuring people's social status. Therefore, it can be said that social status is probably one of the most important factors that people living in Bangkok value when referring to this survey.

Other topics related to car ownership

According to such a study, it can even be said that due to the low quality of public transportation in this city, the citizen living in this city has to find a better way to commute around the city, resulting in owning the car as the study suggested. Likewise, people who can be influenced or persuaded by the advertisements or their society can be expected to buy a car than those who have a stronger mind. However, those who are concerned about the environment, traffic-related problems, or expenses associated with owning a car will be less likely to buy a car.

As a result, we can say that these aforementioned cases have highlighted that there are several factors that lead to the purchase of a car, and more importantly, the findings should somehow bring some beneficial aspects to society. After reviewing previous research related to the chosen topic, a hypothesis can be found. This is due to the fact that in Thailand, especially in a big city where different lifestyles of people and social classes can be found, materialism can be used to classify people into social class.

METHODOLOGY

In terms of data collection, the google form will be used as a tool to deliver the questionnaires to the intended respondents. As mentioned earlier, the two groups of respondents will be divided regardless of other demographic factors such as gender, age or income, in order to cover all necessary areas related to the subject matter under investigation in this study. In addition, the time frame of one year is imposed as a criterion for screening the intended respondents.

This is because this time would be considered an appropriate time as respondents can be expected to recall their own experiences in detail in order to provide as accurate an answer as possible. In fact, the shorter time frame will result in a smaller pool of targets and be inappropriate for the time needed to make a purchase decision. Therefore, dividing the target respondents into two characteristic groups based on a time frame of one year can be considered as the most suitable way to conduct this research.

Possible Factors

Social Status

One of the factors assumed to be related to car ownership is social status or social class. This is due to the fact that Bangkokians' lifestyles seem to be influenced by the materialism that results in the desire to own a luxury product such as a car. However, regarding the result of the questions that the sample of Bangkokians were polled, it does not seem to be correlated.

Question no.19 asked about the willingness to take a loan to buy a car in order to level the social status through the perception of others. Its result of agreement came up with the lowest average score of 3.14 or 62.7 percent of respondents agree on this issue. Similarly with question no. 3, which asks about the respondents' assumption in relation to having a higher.

Social Status

Transportation

One of the factors that lead to the desire to own a vehicle is public transport. In terms of the questionnaires, it can be said that public transport may not have a big impact on Bangkok's life. The result showed that 77.5 percent of the respondents or out of the average scores of 3.87 say that they agree on this matter.

Basically, question no. 6 asked about the punctuality of buses, which are one of the types of public transport provided by the government, and the desire to have a car. The result of this question showed that 78.4 percent of respondents or with an average grade of 3.92 say that there is a negative correlation between these two subjects. The lower the punctuality of the buses, the more likely the desire to buy the car will occur.

Public Transportation

In Bangkok, it can be said that different types of public transportation are provided to the residents of this city. 5 questions about the correlation between the inaccessibility of public transport from the respondent's residential area and the desire to own the vehicle. The lack of punctuality of some forms of public transport such as buses leads to the desire.

To be more precise as to the possible reasons behind these results, they can be discussed as follows. This is probably due to the fact that the public transport provided to Bangkokians covers most areas in this city with different types of transport modes. As a consequence, inaccessibility to public transport is unlikely to occur widely.

Stage of Life

Stage of Life

As for the questionnaires, there are five questions related to these matters that presented different results. In addition, question no. 5 is about a major life change related to the addition of family members, such as having a partner or children, in conjunction with the desire to own a car. In addition to these, there are two other questions related to the period of life.

It basically asked about the major change in life in terms of workplace location related to the desire to own a car. This can be assumed for the phase of life where the personal life is focused. This is due to the fact that owning a car at this stage of life will result in full utilization of the car's functional benefits.

Age of the sample group

Other Factors

In principle, there are several factors that can influence car ownership, in addition to the four factors mentioned. Such factors may be related to, for example, the vehicle's functional advantage, convenience, or personal accessory tool. To start with one of the most interesting topics related to the functional advantage of the car in relation to the desire to buy a car, there are three.

In fact, the result of calculating the average scores showed that people tend to buy the cars that can provide the functional benefits of being able to commute conveniently. Two of the questions that say that functional benefits (question no.14) and safety and security that the car can offer (question no.15) are among the most important factors that people use for car purchase consideration. Their results showed with the average scores of 4.56 for the safety and security benefits and 4.46 for functional benefits or with the percentage of 91.2 and 89.2 respectively.

Other Factors

This can be referred to the average score of 4.07 or 81.4 percent of respondents agreed. This is probably to be expected, as driving a private car can offer several advantages in terms of convenience, such as the ability to carry more stuff or privacy while traveling. Starting with the questions of the functional benefits and the safety and security associated with the purchase of the car, it is clear that these two can be an essential factor in the purchase of the vehicles.

In fact, the functional advantages can also lead to the more convenient and light travel time being more pleasant, especially during the traffic jams that can be found many times on Bangkok's roads. In relation to the car being used for the owner's characteristic description, this is because the vehicle's design and styles can relate to the owner's personality. Seeing the SUV on the street can therefore be assumed to be the car owner's lifestyle.

CONCLUSION

Summary

This is due to the fact that there has been some improvement in public transport in Bangkok, which leads to an increase in the quality of such a travel mode. In terms of the beneficial aspects applicable to society, the results above can be used as a database to provide new innovation and policies for the business in the automotive industry as well as the authorities. To illustrate this, according to the income level which is an important factor in car acquisition, the policy of the business in such an industry must be consistent with this fact to facilitate the customer behavior.

For example, the promotion of a new marketing campaign in relation to the price regardless of the effect of brand image. In addition, the government departments that normally impose rules for car ownership can use this to renew the policy that can facilitate both business and customers. As a consequence, the automobile industry is likely to expand, resulting in the growth of the Thai economy as a whole.
