G LOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECTIVE
Responsible trawl fisheries that result
in sustainable fisheries resources and healthy marine ecosystems in the Coral Triangle and Southeast Asian Waters by reduced bycatch, discards and trawl fishing i mpact on biodiversity and the environment
Effective public and private sector partnership for improved trawl and bycatch management and practices that support fishery
dependent incomes and sustainable livelihoods
P ROJECT IMPLEMENTATION OBJECTIVE
1) Mapping (Critical-Nursery habitats); 2) Appropriate Fishing Gear and Technology;
and 3) Total Allowable Effort (TAE) Management through Good Governance in Trawl Fisheries
1) Effective and efficient management of trawl fisheries bycatch and discards;
2) Expand and enhance collaborative works with regional/national organizations;
and 3) Good Governance in Trawl Fisheries 1)
2) Fisheries Resources and operations are sustainable; and 3) Fishing operations and alternative livelihoods continue to provide food in a sustained fishery
Trawl fisheries management plans implemented and endorsed by stakeholders;
1)
to support bycatch reduction is enhanced ; and 3) Socio-economic conditions of local livelihoods is improved

PROJECT COMPONENTS
PROJECT REBYC- II CTI aims at mitigating problems associated with bycatch in trawl fisheries and contribute to more sustainable use of the fisheries resources and healthier marine ecosystems located within the Coral Triangle Region of Southeast Asia. This project based around multi-species trawling, where bycatch issues
are amongst the most serious, with potentially significant effectson ecosystems and livelihoods.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is the Global Environment Facility (GEF) agency for the project that funded jointly by GEF and the implementing and Executing Partners.
