Understanding one’s feelings
Sometimes, the speakers don’t tell you how they feel. You have to guess it from their tones. Some words in their speech may also give you clues about their feelings.
e.g.1. ‘Wow! This scarf is very pretty.’
(‘Wow’ shows that the speaker is excited.) e.g.2. ‘What? You didn’t do your homework again?’
(‘What’ shows that the speaker is angry.)

Finding the correct order
Is it hard to remember the order of a series of events? Jotting down the key words can help! Try using short forms and arrows in your notes.
e.g. ‘Yesterday I went to a day camp with my sister. First, the coach played some games with us. Then, we had barbecue for lunch.
After lunch, we went hiking. Finally, we went back to the campsite.’
Your notes may look like this:
games ➜ BBQ ➜ hiking ➜ back to campsite
