(B-2) (12 marks) Alice is reading an article about skateboarding in a magazine. Read it carefully, choose the best answers for Questions 23-27 and complete Question 28.
Skateboarding Craze
By Juan Hutchinson (i)
Have you ever watched a skateboarder move like the wind? Or jump like flying in the air? That is the coolest thing I have ever seen. I started to learn skateboarding when I was 14. I am 24 now and still often go skateboarding. I still find it very cool!
(ii)
A good skateboarder should have good footwork and great balance. But most important of all, you must practise a lot and be willing to push through the learning pains. Many times, I fell off my skateboard. I broke my leg twice and it really hurt. Some tricks would take me hours to learn, others took me months to master. I practised my favourite trick, Front Foot Impossible, for half a year.
It was hard but I stuck at it. The joy of mastering a trick is beyond words.
(iii)
Unlike most other sports, there is no specific dress code for skateboarding.
Anything comfortable will do. Wear flexible, flat-soled shoes. Do not wear leather shoes or sandals. Make sure the shoes are strong and durable so that you do not need to change your shoes frequently. Some skateboarders love wearing hats to look cool. For me, I wear a helmet and knee pads to protect myself.
(iv)
If you have gone skateboarding for quite a while, you will be surprised to see how it benefits you. Skateboarding improves the coordination of eyes, arms and legs. You will also feel less stress and sleep well at night. It is amazing that it will improve your memory too. It even brings you a lot of good friends. I learnt most of the tricks from my friends and we help each other film skateboarding videos. Skateboarding makes me braver and stronger!
