AAU Marks World Mental Health Day

As part of the role AAU plays in community engagement, the AAU deanship of student affairs organized, at the university campus in Al Ain, an event to mark World Mental Health Day.

Faculty members, professional staff, and students attended the event.

Dr. Nadeem M. Ashuraey, associate professor at the college of education, presented a talk entitled “the importance of mental health in everyday life” in which he explained the nature of mental disorders and their impact on daily life. Dr. Ashuraey illustrated examples of disorders that may influence the society surrounding the affected individual such as “Hallucinations” and

“Paranoia.”

The drama group at the Professional diploma in teaching department also presented a play that

dealt with a key social issue from which several families suffer; ‘social chaos’. The problem is more apparent when children and teens are found in broken families and are deprived of guidance and proper care because parents either are busy or have failed to accomplish proper planning.
