Course Title:

Tips to improve the Composition of Students’ Assignments, Project Proposals and Reports, Research Proposals & Theses.

Prepared & delivered by Dr. Abdelhamid Zoubir

Introduction: No matter what the level of English language proficiency of students is, these tips are geared towards enabling them meet new challenges of the ever changing nature of academic and professional landscapes. This course is comprised of three workshops:

Workshop 1: Focused on

 Structuring paragraphs

 Using linking words

 Using punctuation appropriately

 Using the passive voice in scientific texts

Title: How to collect information from scientific texts: scanning, skimming, speed reading & how to handle 9 reading question types.

Introduction: Writing a good research proposal is a first step towards qualifying for a course of study or earning a fellowship. Introduction: Presentations provide an opportunity to put across your point and showcase your potentialities and make an impact as a professional. The course aims at inculcating effective presentation skills among students to help them in their professional careers. Its basic features are as follows:

 Read your presentation and critique yourself

Introduction: Referencing constitutes an insuperable part of Project Reports. This course aims at introducing students to the dynamics of referencing sources, both printed and digital. It is geared towards APA style in particular and other reference styles in general. The aim is to finally promote KAU reference style over the coming years. Following is brief outline of the course:

 Construction of an accurate and complete reference list

 Order of References in the reference list
