The Secretary General added that the meeting of the Scientific Committee came under the instructions of HH Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Award of Khalifa International Date Palm Award. The agenda of the meeting included a comprehensive review of the award's works over the past five years and the search for new means to develop the award in such a way that it fulfills its strategic objectives as defined in its statute.
SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE OF KIDPA MET
Afterwards, both the Libyan delegation and the press delegation visited the Palms And Dates Research Center (Date Tissue Culture Laboratory (DPTCL) for Propagating Date Tissue Seedlings) of UAEU in Al Ain, where they got an idea of the most important services and products that the laboratory offers to farmers. They looked at the technical mechanism for the production of tissue culture of date shoots and seedlings using the most modern technology in this regard, because it corresponds to the increasing growth in the cultivation of a large number of date palms in the UAE, where the production capacity of the Laboratory is 150,000 seedlings of the best types of dates annually. The tour ended with a visit to the headquarters of the General Secretariat of KIDPA in Al Ain, through which they got an idea of the most important achievements of the last five years at the local, regional and international level.

He added that the festival is a chance to build cooperation frameworks with the organizations and institutions involved in date palm tree cultivation and date production at the global level as the festival attracts more than 200 companies from all parts of the world, a fact that reflects the position of the UAE in the service of the blessed tree and the workers who take care of it.
PARTICIPATING IN THE EMIRATES INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL 2013
Introduction
One of the oldest fruit trees in the Arabian Peninsula and perhaps in the world is Date Palm (Phoenix dacyilifera). The Arabian Peninsula has also been the traditional home of the date palm for centuries, which has adapted to harsh environmental conditions there. Under these situations, the date palm is described as having its feet in the running water and its head in the fire of the sky (Erskine et al., 2004).
GLOBAL DILEMMA OF
The earliest evidence of date palm cultivation is reported in 4000 BC in Ur (now Iraq) while in the Nile Valley, date palm cultivation goes back to 3000 BC.

The list also includes several other countries of the world such as Israel, the USA, Chad, Nigeria and Turkey. Morocco is recording the second lowest oil palm yield in the world after Mauritania (Table 2). China is the country that has made very good progress in the field of palm cultivation.
Dilemma of stagnating/
China was not included in the top 20 date producing countries in 1961, but was ranked twelfth in 2010. Chad, Israel and the US are the significant countries outside the world's four date production regions. Therefore, only 1.33% of dates are shared by the rest of the world, which may produce this product only for domestic consumption.
Date palm problems
The above presented data and discussion indicate that although there was a huge increase in world date production, it was all due to an increase in harvested area and not due to the increase in yield per acre. ha, as had been the case with almost all food crops such as wheat, rice, maize, sorghum potato and etc. These are listed as below and will be discussed in detail in subsequent articles in a series.
Greenhouse experiments to control the root rot disease showed that jojoba oil gave the best results in reducing disease severity, followed by plant protection, and the least was marjoram against L.

Environmental Conditions The most important factors, including temperature and relative humidity, are most effective against pathogenic fungi, in terms of growth rate, incidence of root rot diseases and severity of date palm suckers (Arafat, 2011). Water salinity also reduced the growth of date palm seedlings and tended to increase the infection rate or increase the infection rate of seedlings inoculated with Chalara radicicola and C. Some of the compounds released by certain types of plants appear to have inhibitory activity against certain pathogens (Agrois reported that a variety of chemical compounds and proteins can be secreted by plant roots that could function to suppress the growth of root pathogenic fungi.
Materials and Methods
The fungus Lasiodiplodia theobromae grows at an optimum growth temperature of 28 °C, but no growth was observed at 40 °C (Saha et al., 2008), while the relative humidity optimum was observed at 70% (Arafat, 2011). Biological control of plant pathogens with microorganisms is considered a natural and environmentally acceptable alternative to existing chemical cleaning methods (Baker and Paulitz, 1996). They are free-living fungi that are common in soil and root ecosystems and promote plant growth and are effective in soil control.
Effect of abiotic and biotic stress on isolated fungus
The same method was applied to determine the optimal Rh% on the incidence and severity of root rot of palm seedlings in the greenhouse.

Results
Symptoms in the field (Fig. 1) were recorded on root rot and leaf base rot (A, B, C and D), pycnidia (E) and conidia spores were photographed under a microscope (F) at 20x X 40x.
Pathogenicity test
The data in table (8) showed that the most effective concentration of root exudates of all studied cultivars in reducing the linear growth of L. The effect of biological control agents (biotic or abiotic) on the linear growth of the fungus and the incidence and severity of the disease. The most effective concentration was C+ (fungicide) for reducing disease severity, followed by concentrations of bioagents compared to the control (C-).
Discusion
In addition, Banik et al. 1988) studied the effect of temperature, relative humidity and rainfall on the colony growth of Lasiodiplodia. Table (8): Effect of root exudates of date palm cultivars on reduction of linear growth of L. 2011b) they reported that the bioagents (biotic and abiotic) were effective in inhibiting the linear growth of soil-borne pathogenic fungi, and reduced the disease incidence and severity of root rot of date palm seedlings.
Conclusions
Survey and identification of major root rots of date palm and their relative importance in Egypt. Efficacy of some plant extracts, natural oils, biofungicides and fungicides against date palm root rot. Effect of salt on root rot disease of date palm and its control with special reference to Phytophthora palmivora (Butl.) as a new causative pathogen in Egypt.
