PERIODONTICS ( OBCS 545 )

Objectives:

1- Summary of main learning outcomes for students enrolled in the course.

By the end of the course the student should be able to:

1-1 Properly describe and diagnose periodontal diseases and conditions

1-2 Identify the relationship between the periodontal diseases and the various medical conditions

1-3Differentiate between different periodontal diseases 1-4Treat various periodontal diseases

1-5 Instruct the patient on how to maintain proper periodontal health 1-6 Evaluate treatment outcomes

Course Content:

i. Description of the knowledge to be acquired:

The student will be able to demonstrate that he/she has learned

K-1 The importance of Periodontal diseases K-2 The risk factors of Periodontal diseases

K-3 The relationship between Periodontal diseases and systemic conditions K-4 Different treatment strategies and approaches

K-5 The concept of Problem Based Learning

K-6 How to solve periodontal problems in real life settings Competency Statement:

C-1 Develop a comprehensive understanding of basic biologic principles with emphasis on their application to the orofacial complex.
