About Shaqra University

Shaqra University (SU) was established on the third of Ramadan 1430 (August 24, 2009). It is located in Shaqra, Saudi Arabia, 190 km (120 mi) northwest of Riyadh. The university is supervised by the Ministry of Education, and it has several colleges offering various academic disciplines. It is headquartered in Shaqra with its various colleges being geographically spread across a wide area of approximately 400 km2 (150 sq mi). The university currently has 20 colleges distributed in several governorates and sub-governorates, namely Shaqra, Al-Quwaiiyah, Al-Duwadimi, Sajir, Dhurma, Afif, Al- Muzahimiyah and Thadiq.

Shaqra University looks forward to the achievement of overall objectives, represented

in preparation and development of national human resources in response to the needs

of development and the needs of the job market, that is in addition to the enrichment

of scientific research and development of graduate studies to satisfy community needs

and development issues.

Admissions and Application Requirements for international Students to Study in Saudi Arabia

What are the requirements for studying in Saudi Arabia?

1. The applicant must be 16 years or older.

2. A valid passport.

3. A medical report showing safety from infectious diseases.

4. Authenticated certificates and identification papers by the authorities specified by the educational institution.

How can I get a scholarship?

To obtain a scholarship through the educational institution in which you wish to study, you must apply, and your application will be reviewed for acceptance of the scholarship by the educational institution.

What are the requirements for obtaining an educational visa to study in Saudi Arabia?

1. The applicant must be (16) years old or older.

2. A valid passport (should be valid for no less than six months from the date of entry into the Kingdom).

3. Acceptance from a licensed and accredited educational institution.

4. Proof of proficiency in speaking, reading, writing and understanding the language of study through the results of the standard approved test.

5. Proof of financial ability or submission of a bank guarantee.

6. Written consent of the guardian or his accompanying visa holder, persons under the age of 18 years.

7. A medical report and update the medical insurance document for the visa holder and his companions.

8. Payment of visa fees.

Application requirements for accepting international students in Shaqra University

1. The applicant’s country of residence must be outside Saudi Arabia (they do not have residency)

2. The secondary school certificate obtained by the applicant must be from outside Saudi Arabia

3. The admission requirements applicable to Saudis at the university apply to foreign scholarship students

4. The applicant must not have received another scholarship from one of the educational institutions in the Kingdom

5. The applicant must not have been dismissed from any educational institution in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

6. Certificates and identification documents must be authenticated by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, or the cultural attachés in the applicant’s country

7. The applicant must pass the medical examination determined by the university 8. The university may require letters of recommendation for the student from one

of the institutions or references acceptable to the university.

Objectives

The Arabic Language Teaching Unit for Non-native Speakers at Shaqra University

sought to provide an attractive educational environment to teach the Arabic

language to non-native speakers according to modern technologies, and to

contribute to scientific research.
