The ~sium wns held at the Instituto .Antartico Argentino, Buenos Aires, under the sponoorship of the Argentine Government who issued invitations to all countries and 01-gnnisations which participated in the Antarctic nctivitic:J of the International Geophysical year. Travel and subsi.3tence expenses for two delegates from eooh country were paid by the Argentine Governncnt.

The obj cot of the Antarctic ~siun was to provide an opportnni ty for the prosentation and discussion of the prel:iminazy scientific nnd technical result:i of work carried out in the Antarctic during the I. <1. Y., and olso for Antnrctic investigatoro to make personal contact:::. The proceedings '7ere

cxtranely well organised ond co-ordinated by Renr-Acl"!ri.roJ. R.N.Pnnzar.i.ni, Director of the Instituto .Antarlico Argentina, and by the r-hainnen of the various sciontifio ses::lions. The programne allo7led ample time for informal discussion vmich 1t7ns of the greatest value. All pape1·s presented arc to be published in a volume of the series "Publications of the Argentine Antarctic Research Institute" which should be ready for circula'tion during the latter half of 1960.

to gebruik nio?

Hierop ant~oord mnr. Smit dat vervoer in so'n geval die grootste struikel- blok sal wees. Die Voorsitter io oortuig dat mnr. J.J.
