•During this presentation you will learn:

• how to deal with issues and problems that you may face during  your many years as a student.

• It is a simple six‐step way on how to approach a problem

• The Six‐Step Problem‐Solving Process is an easy approach to  overcoming this

g15s4762 2

• Each student to understand the problem solving process

•Appreciate the value of what the problem solving process can do  for them

g15s4762 3

•During A problem, have you ever had yourself wonder what it  would be like having an easy solution to overcome this ?

•Well .. This easy Six Step Process can help you !!

• This process and an understanding of the Equipped for the Future  (EFF) Standard of Solve Problems and Make Decisions will give you a  good set of tools to use to help you with complex problems and  decisions.

g15s4762 4

Like every situation its essential to identify the problem. Majority of the problems tie down to it  being emotional which may cause people to miss read

the situation, Egos playing a big role in this.

To identify the problem start by asking yourself a few questions which will take you a step  closer to solving the problem ..

How often does the problem occur?

When does it occur?

When doesn’t it occur?

Where does it occur most often?

Who tends to be involved with the problem most often?

One should bare in mind that the problem might change as the steps are looked into deeper  and examined.

Whilst working discussing the problem one should think about and not just assume or base  anything on opinions

g15s4762 5

• When working in a group to identify the problem, remember to  ask the group “WHY?”, this helps when finding the root cause.

•Once the cause is looked at and discovered, look at the problem  again to make sure nothing is left out, by doing so, one may find  additional problems that they were not aware of appearing ..

•Which can be solved of looked at by readdressing the same process  used before

•It is important to jot down the information collected such as the  root causes etc. to try and think of solutions .. Here brainstorming  comes to play .. As many ideas as possible.

•However during the brainstorming process it is important to ensure  that no communication takes place, this makes the process go faster  and by doing this there might be more solutions created .. Hence  one should be as creative as possible.

•From here on .. It is safe to combine the ideas of all, find about who  else feels the same way and what they have done, hereon ideas  should be merged to make something more creative.

g15s4762 8

•Create and enable a criteria for selecting solutions.

•Now compare the solution against the criteria

•Now think .. Would it work out the way as planned? Will it work  out?

•If not the group may have to rethink more suitable solutions

g15s4762 9

•Now one should create a plan for implementing, including all work  conducted, especially the progress of the work should be  monitored.

•Make sure everyone has agreed before implementing these  solutions.

•It is more likely to start on a small scale first.

g15s4762 10

•Please note that the solution should be implemented and well in  place in order to proceed with this next step.

•Most importantly to know, that a follow up plan is needed

•You should decide how you will implement and stufy the effects of  such changes, so you must plan to make some improvements as  needed

1. Identify and Select the Problem

2. Analyse the Problem

3. Generate Potential Solutions 4. Select and Plan

the Solution

5. Implement the Solution 6. Evaluate the

Solution

g15s4762 11 g15s4762 12

It is assumed that by now you are well aware of how to solve a problem using the  various six steps such as :

1. Identify and Select the Problem 2. Analyze the Problem 3. Generate Potential Solutions 4. Select and Plan the Solution 5. Implement the Solution 6. Evaluate the Solution

Remember to always think logically when dealing with such sensitive issues

Keep away from anything that might influence your decision

We hope we were of great help !!!
