He has been a serious student and exponent of Jewish folk music for a long as he can 1·emember. "But I like all music," he said, ''as long as its good.'.-' ~aKl!!~--~~~--.

Mr. Cherniavsky spoke of his early musical tl·aining at the Imperial Conservatory in Petrograd, and occa- sionally lapsed into an Am ricanism to emphasise a pa1ticular point. In Petrograd he studied under Glazou- nov and R"m ky-Kor akov, and was a class-nr te of Prokofieff.
