IMPORTANT NOTICE

FOR ABE INITIATIVE APPLICANTS IN SOUTH AFRICA

We would like to thank you for your interest in the “ABE Initiative Master’s and Internship Program” under the Japanese Government Official Development Assistance (ODA). This Program aims at fostering excellent personnel who can contribute to Africa’s industrial development in partnership with Japanese private sector by strengthening economic ties between the two countries while acquiring individual professional skills and knowledge.

Therefore, we would like to call for applications from young, prominent, South African nationals, who belong to a) Private Sector, b) South African government and public sector, or c) Higher Education institutions (public universities and TVET college) as lecture who are involved in industrial development related activities.

Fresh graduates are also eligible to apply when meeting all the requirements. For eligibility and procedure, please check next page first for your quick reference as well as page 4-6 in the General Information.

This year the Deadline for application submission is 15th October 2014. However, those who belong to South African public sector and lectures for higher education institutions (category “b” and “c” above), please consult with your institution or the Department of Public Services and Administration (DPSA) and the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) for internal submission date.

Eligibility for ABE Initiative in South Africa

 I hold South African nationality

 I will be between 22 to 39 years old as of 1st April 2015

 I hold a Bachelor’s Degree (Preferably with Honours and/or 65% or above in latest transcript)

 I have adequate English skills in academic writing and oral communication

 I clearly understand the Program objective and have strong motivation to contribute to strengthening in the economic relationship between the two countries upon returning to South Africa

 I belong to one of four (4) categories below and will be able to follow the procedure specified;

with a recommendation letter from the Dean/Vice Chancellor

with a Motivation letter from your institution I work as a lecturer in

a public university or

TVET college in SA Submit application

to ABE Initiative Project Office

with a Motivation letter from your dept./SOC/org I work for SA

national/local gov't, SOC or public

A support letter from SA gov't or a Japanese company/

organization is highly recommended if applicable.
