The children of the Cape Jewish Orphan- age spent a very delightful day last Sunday when i\Ir. and Mrs. B. Phillips, of the Sid- mouth Mansions Hotel, Muizenberg, invited them and the committee of the Orphanage to

The bigfter children were taken out hv lorries, kindly lent by several firms, and th~

very sma 11 babies in motor cam. On arrival at M uizenberg they stopped at the Sidmouth, and minerals, cakes and fruit were served. The whole party, who were in charge of the Principal a;nd :\fatron, then went down to the beach and the children':-.

The Rev. Green at Maccabean Guild Luncheon.

The H.cv. A. A. Green was the guest and speaker at the Maccabcan Guild Luncheon held on Wednesday at the Zionist Hall.

Rev. Green spoke on his attempt while in oulh Africa to interest Jews in Jews'-College in London. He was sorry he had failed in his attempt. Perhaps if he had been younger he migh l have made more of an effort-as it was, he had been unable to:

Lecture by Dr. Sachs.

"Judaism as a Philosophy of Uf e ·· will he the subject of a lecture to be deliYered by Dr. J. Sachs. ~I.A., Ph.D., in the Zionist Hall on Thursiday evening, 19th inst. The lecture wil 1 be ~iven under the auspi,.cs of th(' Kadjmah A~c;ociation. All interested are invited to attend.

Maccabean Guild Dance.

Some 170 people attended a Flannel ocial Dance held last Saturday night in the Zionist Hall under the ampices of the Maccabean Guild. It was a very jolly dance and it was generally agreed hy those present a most enjoyable one. Music was provided by Miss Disner. After the ceremony an " At Home " was held at the residence of the bride's parents.

Toasts were propo::-.ed by Mr. S. H. Fried- land, Treasurer of the Talmud Torah, who presided, by Rev. Isaac on, Mr. B. Shashol- ::;ky and Mr. \Iyer Goodman.

During the afternoon a collection was made and £ 1 ls. was $ubscribed toward~

Jewish funds. Two-thirds of this was to go towards Moes~chittim in Cape Town and to- wards the special• appeal for Matzos, and one- third to\\ards the Talmud Torah and the· J.N.F.

l\lr. Z. Avin, the last speaker, portrayed the cliff erent aspetts of Trumpledor's life and spoke of his spiritual heritage: and made a stirring appeal for " The League on behalf of a workinrr Eretz Yisrael," from which source the Jewish youth obtains enertr.~·
