A a result of a desire she had rxpresscd to 'ieit one of the Jewish institutions, Lady Clarendon, the wife of the Governor- General, paid a 'isit lo th Cape Jewish Orphanage on Tuesday. he \\a accom- panied by Lady Evelyn Ward and wa re- ceiwd at the Home by Rev. The Executive is determined that every

~ocietv shall be vi ited at least twice during the yc.ar and propaganda meeting held. In addition, in every case where a Society is addressed, the Committee will have to meet and questions affecting the ociety and Council will be discussed. The societies wi1l he trengthened, dormant ones will be re\ ived and attempts made to create new ones.

The tour of Societies in the Eastern Pro- vince by one of the Executive members will be conductf'd toward the end of the coming July and August.

An event of considerable interest and im- portance will be the holding of the annual Judean Parliament for the benefit of country societies at Worce ter on the 10th July next, and every effort will be made to maintain the prestige of Council by making this ParliamPnt a unqualified a success as it was last year. Evt>ry endeavour will be made to encourage as many new members as possible to participate in the Palestine tour at the end of the year. ocieties 'vill be encouraged to rai e funds for the purpo e of sending a

Social Evening a t Mow bray.

A very succe sfnl ocial evening was held on Tue dav, 21th Ma", al the re idence of Dr. and M;s. Ch. Shapiro, Main Road, Mow- bray, in aid of the fund of the Observatory and Mowbray Hebrew Congregation. The function was held under the auspices of the Committee of the Congregation. About one hundred and thirty-five people attended and a very pleasant evening was enjoye1d by all.

The Committee of the Congregation wish to thank Dr. and Mrs. Ch. Shapiro for having so kindly lent the use of their house.
