This lecture proved both interesting and instructive and was much appreciated hy all.

Under auspices of the Woodstock-Salt River Hebrew Congregation, the Cultural Circle, Laoies' Sociel y and Bnoth Zion Asso- riation, a combined function was held at the Talmud Torah Hall, Woodstock on Sun·
day evening in honour of ~1rs. L. Katz, who is leavin~ on a visit to t~relz Israel, and of
~1r. P. Conlon, who has ferved the Con- gregation for four years as chairman.
Mr. P. Marks was in the chair and paid a tribute to Mr. P. Gordon for the valuable services he ha<l rendered lo the Congregation.

Easker, Chairman of the Cul- tural Circle and Treasurer of the Congre-~ation, presented Mr. Gordon with a silver rup as a token of appreciation. He also thanked Mrs. Katz for her services to the Kindergarten and the Oneg Shabbos.

A memorial meeting on the se\enteenth v1miversary of the death of Joseph Trum- peldor and his comrades was held in the Zionist Hall, on Sunday, 20th instant, under the auspices of the Ken Betar. Mr.
Kotlowitz presided over a large gatherin? of member and visitors. The meeting opened with the singing of "Beshuv Adonai," after which Mr. Kotlo'\ itz ~,poke on Trumpeldor's lifr and on the moral and spiritual signi-

Mr. I. Lipshitz, bPginning in Hebrew and hter continuing in Yiddish, pointed out that such nalirmal traits as the love for Erelz Israel and for the H c brew language as well as the close allachmenl lo Judaism and Jewish religion all operated in Joseph Trum- pcldor-thc national Jew. But the nation had not yet learnt the greatest trait of Joseph Trumpcldor and his greatest quality: the will to sacrifice for his Land and his people.
