Assisting the Board of Guardians.
AN EMERGENCY MEETING.
A meeting convened by the Commillee of the Cape Jewi h Board of Guardians wa held in the Zionist Hall on Wednesday e\en- ing of this week. Invitations were extended to a number of social workers in the com- munity and about twenty-two of these allended. The purpose of the meeting was to investigate the present position of the Board and to con ider ways of improving the financial position.
Various suggestion were put forward as to how funds for the Board could be raised, among which was one to hold a bazaar, another to conduct a campaign for funds, and another to hold a membership campaign.
Sub equently one speaker suggested that the
matter of raising funds for the Board was a matter for the principal congregations in Cape Town to take in hand. He felt that the Cape Town Hebrew Congregation and the New Hebrew Congregation should take the initiative in calling together the leaders of the community to save the Board of Guardians from the position in which it finds ilself to-day.
It was eventually decided that the com- mittees of both congregations should be asked to attend en bloc a meeting which has been arranged to take place in the Zionist Hall on the 17th inst. at 8 p.m. Invitations will also be extended to others interested in the Board.
March 11th, 1932.
