They do not propose to make any charge for food, and the items of cost to be met will probably be the Meteorologist's personal expenses, such as drink and tobacco, and a dress which he does not have. The voyage in question, which is the first to be undertaken during this commission, will probably begin about the middle of February. The ship will be at sea for about five weeks and then return to South Africa.
It is not expected that there will be any difficulty in making a call at B ouvet Island, although it is believed that a landing can only be made in very calm weather. I have the honor, under instructions from the High Commissioner, to refer to your t:inute No. 34;Discovery II11 during her cruise to the Antarctic commencing in February, 1939, and forward for your information.

Le fondement juridique de la souveraineté de la Norvège est contesté comme étant nul et non avenu. Indépendamment de ce fait, revendiquer des droits sur des terres qui étaient déjà sous la souveraineté d'un autre pays ne fait pas partie de l'idée norvégienne.
Cela est également cohérent avec la déclaration faite par le gouvernement norvégien au gouvernement britannique en 1929, selon laquelle il ne ferait aucune prétention sur les terres situées dans les zones occupées à l'époque. Il réside dans la souveraineté de l'empire... que personne d'autre que les Norvégiens n'ont exploré cette zone et dont ils ont été les seuls à avoir dressé des cartes de cette zone, la Norvège croit pouvoir la revendiquer de plein droit et l'aournettre est-ce que cela a également été fait. et d'autres aouveraineto. Ce domaine est exactement celui qui a émergé au fil des années. ces derniers mois, où il était de la plus grande importance pour la pêcherie de Balcinc. Au cours de l'été 1929/30, la compagnie baleinière Lord Christensen envoya une expédition dans ces zones sous le commandement du capitaine Riidór-Larsen. Le capitaine Lutzow-Holm, qu'il accompagnait, prit... ce qu'il fit de ces accès de rage en 1932/~3 avec l'aide du gouvernement norvégien.
Les bateliers norvégiens se sont également rendus sous terre à de nombreuses reprises au cours de ces années et, comme ailleurs, à cet endroit en bordure du secteur oriental. Lars Christensen envoya une nouvelle expédition dans la région au cours de l'été 1936/37. Pendant la guerre, le lieutenant Wider a survolé et découvert de vastes zones de nos terres et les a cartographiées. La partie des terres rarement explorées qui se situe aujourd'hui entre les terres de Laud et celles de la princesse Ragnhild était... ou pour ainsi dire, la quasi-totalité des terres continentales au bord de la mer. L'intérieur du secteur atlantique a été exploré au cours de toutes ces expéditions d'une manière si méthodique que des cartes si détaillées ont été réalisées qu'il est permis de dire que seules des parties bien connues du secteur atlantique de l'Antarctique ont été découvertes.
Il . les pouvoirs publics et les parties intéressées s'inquiètent de savoir s'il ne serait pas raisonnable et utile de reconnaître une partie du continent Antarctique comme souveraine sur la Norvège11. .. où pourtant la France avait déjà annexé une petite zone de terre avec quelques îles, située à l'intérieur de cette zone, l'île Adlie qui a été trouvée. L'île ouverte se trouve dans l'océan au large du continent, entre le territoire britannique et le territoire de... le territoire qui remplit cet espace... est celui qu'on a très souvent appelé et la côte de l'océan Atlantique, et qu'aucun L’État a jusqu’à présent revendiqué sa souveraineté. Les terres continentales de cette région ont longtemps été totalement inconnues et inexplorées.
