Female (Fig. L~).-Length 2·1 mm. Hearl elongate, the fore- head parabolic \Yith a transverse band on the venter; antennae set ,,·ell fonYarcl; hind head with the lateral margins gradually broad- ening from base to apex; tlorsum with a distinct, irregular sclerot:ie pattern, the setae of medium length; pharynx \Yith brushes, mouth- part; extending beyoncl posterior margin of the head.

Thom:v sho1-ter than the head; sternal plate absent.

i!bdomen elongate oval, the setae arranged dorsally and ven- trally into median and lateral groups. Spiracles large \Yith distinct markingc;. Gmwpophyses (Fig. 2.l) elongate with a fe,Y short setae on thei1, inner margins; genitnl plate spatulate.

Genitalia (Fig. 2n) with the basal plate long antl slender, like\Yise the pa rameres; endomeral piece well deYelopetl.

A wry distinct species apparently belonging to the tibialis group. It can be Jistiugui6hed by the shape of the hea<l, the female genital region, male genitalia, and apex of the abdomen of the male.

NEW SPECIES OF LIJ\OGJ\ATIIlJS AND POLYPLAX.

Abdomen elongate o\·al, sparcely haire(l, the setae which are short and slender anangell in normal pattern. SzJimcles medium sized ·without nw1-kings. GonopozJhyses (Fig. 4A) small, rounded posteriorly, with a 1'0\\. of setae on their inner margins; genital plate subtriangular.

Jfale (Fig. 3B).- Length 1·55 mm. Head and thorax as in the female. Abdomen terminating posteriorly in a short. broad lobe.

Uenitalia (Fig. 413) '"ith the basal plate long and slenrler; parameres ruch with a pointed expansion on their inner margins rwcl pointed nt their .apices; en(lomeral piere elongate, extending almost to the hase of the parameres anll pointecl in front. This speeies belongs to the tibiaHs group. The female cau be distinguished by the shape of the genital plate nnd gonopophyses, and the male by the genitalia, especially the shape of the endomeral plate.

~'[ales and females (including the holotype, a male, and allo type) taken off Aep:yceros melamznls (Impala), behYeen Pretoria and Johannesburg; also females (mostly slightly immature) off some host species, Rustenburg District, TransYaal.

Female .--Length 1 · 85-2 mm. H eacl short and broad; forehead rounded; autennae situated slightly fonYarcl beyond the middle; hind head \Yith lateral margins distinctly angulate and constricted posteriorly; pharynx \Yith '"ell-deYeloped brushes; mouth-parts 'extending beyond posterior margin of the head.

Abdomen elongate oYal, similar to other specie,; of the 7ne'L·icez!s group, the setae sparse anil short exeept for a median pair on each segm<mt dorsally and Yentrally; long marginal sei.ae present on ,;egments yj to Yiii, and a single long seta near the spiracle on the second segment. Spiracles small. Gonopl1yses (Fig. GA) elongate with long setae on posterior margin; genital plate racquet-shaped.

J/ ale.- Length 1 ·] 9 mm. Similar to the female in general characters, except that the abdomen is pointed posteriorly. Genitalia (Fig. Gn) "·ith the basal plate long and slender; parmneres slender, without notches on their inner margins; endomeral piece long and slender, pointed in front. This species belongs t·o the b1'e1;icezJS group. Both sexes can be distinguished from L. rmgv.lat11S (Piaget) by the shape of the he a cl, and the male also by the genitalia. In the male -of L. an.r;ulatus the pa mmeres are slightly notched at their apices. From other species belonging to the group the females can be distinguished, 1.11ter alia, by the shape of the genital plate, anil the males by the genitalia.

Abdom.en as in P. tcemeri (Glink), except that the stental plates are smaller, and there is only one seta on each .of the mer1ian segments between the sternal plates and the corresponding para- tergal plates; also the long setae on the third and fourth }Jara·
