Adelaide Hockey Club - Season 2016
Welcome to the 2016 Season at Adelaide Hockey Club!
February 2016 Newsletter (updated for change in U14/U18 Women’s training times)
From our President – Anne Collins
I know a number of members have played indoor and summer hockey throughout the season, and for everyone else I hope you have had a good break. I would like to thank everyone who
participated in the survey at the end of the season, your feedback has been valuable to the
Committee during the off-season in preparing for another fun season with the mighty Adelaide Peas.
Coaches
At Adelaide Hockey Club, we are fortunate to have a number of dedicated and experienced coaches, and I would like to extend a huge thank you to those that have again taken on these roles (which will be posted on the website shortly!). I am pleased to announce however, that Ian Jennings and Mike Angley have signed on again as Senior Coaches for our Premier League teams, ready to build on the successful 2015 season.
This year I am also pleased to announce that Melody “Kiwi” Cooper, past New Zealand international player and current coach of the SA Hotshots, will take on the role of Coaching Director. In this capacity Kiwi will be working to mentor and develop our club coaches – a huge opportunity for anyone looking to develop their coaching skills.
We are still looking to fill some of our coaching spots, so whether you are new to coaching and would like to give it a try, or maybe a past coach or player looking to return, please let us know ([email protected]). In recognition of the importance of our coaches to the success of the Club, and enjoyment of our members, coaching roles do attract reward* and the opportunity to develop your coaching skills.
[* The Club offers a fee-for-service to coaches of Senior teams, and coaches of Junior teams receive membership fee off-set. All coaches have the opportunity to participate in club run professional development activities, leading to nationally recognised accreditation]

Volunteering
Ours is a Club that is operated by volunteers. This culture of contributing is one of our most valuable attributes. Volunteering around the Club is a great way to get to know other members and to support the club that we love to be a part of.
We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to our members who volunteered to help out at the Mitre10 BBQ on Saturday, 23 January. The day was a great success and much fun was had by those who were there.
There are many ways to get involved and all members are encouraged to do so. Please email our volunteer co-ordinator at [email protected] to find out more.
