Purpose
To notify schools of the topics nominated by the QCAA for external assessment in 2022 for:
• Ancient History General Senior Syllabus 2019 v1.2
• Modern History General Senior Syllabus 2019 v1.2
• Ancient History Alternative Sequence 2019 v1.2
• Modern History Alternative Sequence 2019 v1.2
• Ancient History General (Senior External Examination) (SEE) Syllabus 2019 v1.2
• Modern History General (Senior External Examination) (SEE) Syllabus 2019 v1.2
Background
The syllabuses listed above specify that the QCAA will nominate the topics for external assessment at least 12 months before the external assessment is implemented. For Modern History, an ‘Aspect of the topic’ is also specified.
Topic notifications for 2020 and 2021 were provided in memos 044/17, ‘Ancient History and Modern History update’, 21 August 2017, 065/18, ‘Ancient History and Modern History alternative sequence external assessment topics’, 27 November 2018 and 015/19, ‘Senior External
Examination (SEE) syllabuses: Ancient History and Modern History assessment topics and schedules for 2020 and 2021’, 1 March 2019.

Senior External Examination (SEE) syllabuses
The Senior External Examination (SEE) syllabuses are different to the General senior syllabuses.
The Senior External Examination is a program of individual subject examinations offered to eligible Year 12 students and adult learners. These SEE topic notifications are not relevant to teachers of the General senior syllabuses or the Alternative Sequences.
