eHealthNT Happenings
Did you know that since our last edition of eHealthNT Happenings in February 2015, many NT Department of Health staff have completed their required training (Training Module 1) and are now ready to use the national eHealth record system when NT Health connects? This activity is part of the ongoing series of major technical releases being carried out as part of the transition from My eHealth Record to the national eHealth record system.
This is an interesting time for eHealth in the Northern Territory and shortly we will start sending InPatient Discharge Summaries and Specialist Letters to the national eHealth record, and clinical staff at hospitals and remote health centres will be able to view the national eHealth record through the eHealthNT Clinical Portal (NTCP).
This publication is produced by eHealthNT in collaboration with the Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT) and the Northern Territory Medicare Local (NTML).
NT Health
February and March have been very busy months with the pending release of Release 2B. The NT Health Clinical Services Team has been toiling away with System Integration Testing and now User Acceptance Testing, alongside a Change and Adoption Specialist from Chamonix. The work has been demanding and the User Acceptance Testing is currently still ongoing. Well done to the whole Testing Team for their hard work and dedication to ensuring that Release 2B happens as smoothly as possible, and with no technical issues at Go-Live.
Release 2B will allow NT DoH primary health centres to commence Assisted Registration for the national eHealth record via PCIS. We also have the ability to turn Assisted Registration on facility by facility, so it has been decided to roll this out slowly, and Ntaria Health Centre has kindly agreed to be the first cab of the rank.
With the near release of Release 2B, we will also be able to complete further Training Modules to assist all NT DoH staff to utilise the new functions.
Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory
Of the 20 NT Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, 17 are registered for the PCEHR. Of the 53 communities or health centres these organisations cover, 88% have PCEHR enabled software, 44% are using their software to register patients, whilst 94% have had a visit by the AMSANT community engagement team to introduce the population of these locations to the PCEHR and offer registration.
Use of the PCEHR by the clinicians in these health centres currently is low as key clinical information is still being shared through My eHealth Record.
However clinicians are encouraged to start sending to and viewing from PCEHR so that they are familiar with it when NTG sites Go Live. Also it will enable them to give feedback to AMSANT on the functionality of the PCEHR.

Services for auditing and correction – This is important work as up to 30% of NT ACCHSs automatic downloads of Individual Health Identifiers (IHIs) have failed due to mismatched patient data. The IHI is an essential element of future PCEHR and other eHealth clinical information transactions.
AMSANT has been assisting ACCHSs to work with the Department of Human Services to undertake data cleansing to improve their match rate for retrieval of IHIs.

Are your clinical records ready for eHealth?
In recognition of the valuable role data quality plays in general practice, the Northern Territory Medicare Local (NTML) has purchased licences for the Pen Computer Systems Clinical Audit Tool (Pen CAT) for all eligible practices in the Northern Territory (NT).
Pen CAT is a population health reporting tool for general practice, which allows practice staff to analyse and assess their patient population and identify opportunities for improvement, whether it be improved patient care, business potential or data quality.
Correctly coded data will enable General Practitioners and Registered Nurses to easily extract data from the practice’s clinical information system and create and upload shared health summaries or event summaries to the PCEHR in a matter of minutes.

13th National Rural Health Conference
The National Rural Health Conference is the largest biennial event for people who want to improve the health and wellbeing of those who live in rural, regional and remote Australia.
It is an opportunity for present and future leaders of the rural and remote health sector - including its community members, health consumers and carers - to exchange information, showcase successes, promote the sector’s agenda and make useful connections.
It will provide evidence and entertainment and it will help to ensure that progress towards good health and quality of life in rural and remote areas is quickened.
