A person can be a candidate for the Master of Pedagogical Studies degree if - .. lt;a) he has completed studies for the diploma of the Faculty of Pedagogy or has completed studies that are approved as equivalent by the Faculty of Pedagogy; and. The candidate enrolls no later than the end of the fourth week of the first term in which he/she starts studying for the degree. Provided that the Faculty, if it is satisfied that the candidate is employed by the University, apart from his studies, may require the candidate to spend at least two academic years in his studies for the degree.
A candidate who has fulfilled the prescribed conditions and who is of at least one year's standing since admission to any degree at the university or since admission in accordance with rule 3.3 with the status of bachelor in educational education, may be admitted to the master's degree program. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, a candidate who, before June thirtieth, 1958, qualified for the degree of Master of Education under a regulation in force before that date may be admitted to that degree. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, an applicant admitted to the course for the master's degree under a regulation in force on June 30, 1958, and who is qualified for that degree under that regulation, may be admitted not later than the thirty-first day in December, 1963, for the degree of Master of Education.

The course is also designed to provide an introduction to the use of the comparative method in the study of educational institutions. 304. METHODS OF TEACHING (1) General Method and Secondary School Organization
It is expected that copse in General Method and Secondary School Organization in 1963 will largely be taught in seminars, each of which will be con-. Students should obtain the detailed instructions for organizing the course of study from the General Office of the School of Education, 6th floor, Barry Building. A reading guide will be issued for each method; in these guides, appropriate books for the methods in question will be listed.
Normally he is expected to teach either intermediate or final certificate classes in his major methods and to teach certificate classes in his minor method. School Library Practice: May be taken as a minor method by any student, but not as a major method unless the student is responsible for the school library or teaches in a school with a central library managed by a teacher-librarian. Physics and chemistry can be chosen as separate Methods or combined as one Method (Major method). By agreement, the first half of the series of Method Lectures in Natural Science will deal with the teaching of General Science.
Two papers will be placed in Teaching Methods, the first in General Method and Organization of Secondary School, the second in Special Methods.

A list of recommended books for reference will be issued to all students at the beginning of the first quarter. The course will consider the main experimental studies in Education, examining each from the point of view of the aims of the study, the techniques used and the results obtained. In addition to giving students an insight into the contributions made by these researches, the course is designed to help students better understand research techniques and the problems involved in planning and conducting research, and to equip them to read in critically reports educational research.
As many of the references used in the course cannot be made available on loan, external students will have to spend time at a large university library during each holiday. Although no advanced mathematical knowledge is required, students will need a knowledge of elementary statistics to understand the material presented. The initial sessions will briefly review basic statistical concepts, but students lacking this knowledge should study the reference below before entering the course.

This course is intended to offer experienced teachers an opportunity to contribute to the improvement of teaching methods in schools by undertaking an approved trial of at least one year's duration. Each student who wishes to register for the course must submit for approval no later than March 1st a detailed description of the experimental project they wish to carry out with a class or group. After obtaining approval from both the School of Education and his employer, he will be required to send regular progress reports to the School of Education, review his work periodically, and write a critical evaluation of the project's results at the end of the year.

CHAPTER 5 REGULATION
Before entering the course for the diploma, candidates must -. a) pass a medical examination to the satisfaction of the board of studies. b) admitted to the course by the board of studies. When enrolling students must quote the NUMBER as well as the name of the subject as listed below. Where in any year a candidate has passed only in some of the subjects of the Year, he is entitled to credit for such subjects.
All First Year courses must be completed before any Second Year courses are taken, except that the Board of Studies may in special circumstances allow a candidate to take an approved First Year course with Second Year. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any statute or regulation, a candidate who has regularly attended the classes may, on entering the annual examinations, be granted a pass in any subject of the First Year without being required to enter the examination if the performances of his performance in written tests and practical work throughout the year has been of a satisfactory standard. In each of the subjects Body Mechanics, Preventive Work, Practical Exercises parts I and I, Teaching Practice and Observation parts I and II, candidates will be required to attend at least 75 per cent of the hours, except that candidates who produce in accordance with board of studies evidence of completion of the practical work required in the courses Practical Exercises Parts I and II and Teaching Practice and Observation Parts I and II in classes other than university hours may be given credit for such courses upon passing a test to the satisfaction of the board of studies with the recommendation of the director of Physical Education.
The Board of Studies may exempt a candidate from attending classes and passing the tests in any subject of the course on the grounds that he has passed a university examination of a similar scope and standard to that subject.

Arrangements will be made for students to do some of their practice in selected schools under the following conditions: (i) Each student must be placed under an experienced teacher; (ii) terminal reports of each student's progress shall be sent to the Director of Physical Education by. iii) each student must be under the supervision of the Principal for Physical Education. Partial exemption from teaching practice may be granted to teachers who have approved experience and who are in the ordinary practice of their profession as teachers of physical education. Teachers granted such exemption shall be supervised by the Director of Athletics and shall satisfactorily perform such tests as may be required by the Director.
Applications for partial exemption must reach the director before March 31 and must be accompanied by a certificate of employment. Students can be excused from this test if their teaching is deemed satisfactory by the director.
