Regulations Relating to Award Courses List of Hawthorn Institute Employees 23 taught within the School of Technology. As part of the affiliation agreement with the University of Melbourne, the Hawthorn Institute provides undergraduate and graduate degree programs for university awards through the School of Technology Education and Development.

Due Dates and Extensions

Normally, any such approval will be limited to half the requirements of the course, and candidates who have a greater portion of the course to complete will be required to enroll at another institution and seek credit for studies they completed at Hawthorn. This clause shall not limit the approval of programs of the Diploma of Education (Technical and Further Education).

One of the most exciting results of our attention to English language teaching has been the establishment of the Hawthorn English Language Centre, generally referred to as HELC. Associate Diploma in Training and Development

Prerequisites: Training & Presentation Skills - lA. and Training and Presentation Skills - 1B. Contact: The training time for this subject is 130 hours. One major assignment (100 percent) involving the production of a linear design CBT program along with the logic diagram, objective intents, student assessment approaches, student response instrument(s), and self-assessment documentation; ii) a minimum attendance of 80 percent. A major assignment requiring students to explore their training and development operations (1500 words) (70 percent); ii) a seminar paper 750 words; (iii) a minor assignment of (750 words) (30 percent); iv) a minimum attendance of 80 percent.

Prerequisites: Leadership and Management of Training and Development - 6A. Contact The participation time for this course is 90 hours.

Diploma of Teaching (Technical and Further Education)

Diploma of Teaching (Technology)

Assessment Assessment of programs carried out by the school will be based on class presentations, exercises and set assignments totaling 3000 words or non-written equivalent in time and effort per 60 hour program. There will be approximately 12 contact hours each week in the form of lectures, guidance and workshops. There will be 24 contact hours in two hour weekly sessions for each of the two main components.

It is expected that approximately 140 hours of the time involved will be actual classroom instruction.

Bachelor of Education

A person may he a candidate for the degree of bachelor of Education who -

Part-time trainees follow evening classes and teach in their specific context. Applicants will be advised during an interview on the details and availability of the various programs offered in the course. In the second year of the course, each intern completes an educational research project.

INSTRUCTION

Prerequisites: Tertiary degree or degree with at least a minor in Social Education or an approved equivalent.

Graduate Diploma in Education and Training (Technology)

There will be fourteen 3-hour lectures and workshop sessions/. discussions and industry/training visits and 15 hours of field experience. This subject requires the preparation of a project contract and the assignment of a supervisor for the entire duration of the work. A learning contract with the participant taking into account current technological developments, possible or expected new developments; the participant's practical experience; and the potential place of the particular technology in the teaching context.

Assessment Each project will be assessed by the supervisor and the lecturer in charge of the subject.

Graduate Diploma in

Information Communications Technology Education

Students explore the implications of information and communication technology in education and develop appropriate curriculum models for the implementation of information and communication technology. Assessment: i) one large assignment (3000 words or equivalent) (70 percent): Each participant will form a hypothesis early in the course about the possible social implications of using information and communication technologies. Assessment: The evaluation of information and communication technology education in schools (1500 words or equivalent) (100 percent).

A student who, after completing the second study at the tertiary level, enrolls in a course for a diploma in graphic communication, may be credited with courses no. A postgraduate study in graphic communication can be obtained by a student who has fulfilled the prescribed conditions and achieved a total score of 100 points with passed or credit points in each of the compulsory subjects. Special entry may be granted on the basis of qualification. experience and/or current employment in the field of graphic communication.

Assessment One essay (750 words) (100 percent) providing a critical analysis of a graphic communications curriculum topic taught by the student.

Graduate Diploma in Mathematics Education

A student who, after completing a second study at the tertiary level, enrolls in a course for postgraduate studies in mathematics, may, with the consent of the academic council, be recognized for courses for which equivalent subjects were completed at a second tertiary study. . In order to meet the requirements for a degree in mathematics, a candidate must satisfactorily complete the equivalent of one year of full-time study in undergraduate courses, mathematics studies, and advised options. The basic study consists of three specialized subjects, which enable the participant to research some special central issues of mathematical education.

The Basic Methods of Calculus; . differentiation, anti-differentiation and final integration will be expanded and applied.

Graduate Diploma in Student Welfare

A person may be a candidate for the graduate degree in Student Welfare who -. a) (i) has qualified for a degree or diploma of this or another university or tertiary educational institution which is recognized by the Institute of Education ("Institute") in accordance with statute 11.1.6 as applicable for the purposes of this resolution of permanent and has obtained a teaching qualification approved by the Institute; or. ii) has an equivalent qualification and/or experience, which is recognized by the Institute as evidence of adequate training for the purposes of this permanent resolution; A student who, after having completed other studies at tertiary level, enrolls on the Graduate Diploma in Student Welfare course may, with the approval of the Academic Board, be granted credit for the courses the equivalent of which they have taken at the next tertiary level . studies provide that the amount of credit does not exceed 50 percent of the course requirements. The Graduate Diploma in Student Welfare may be awarded to a student who has met the prescribed requirements and has earned a cumulative score of 100 points by passing or receiving credit in the seven compulsory courses.

Content: Models of student welfare and the relationship between student welfare and the total educational provision of schools and colleges; change processes; planning. implementation and evaluation of change in the participants' own educational environments.

Graduate Diploma in Curriculum

A student who, after completing other higher education programs, registers for the course for the diploma programme, can, with the approval of the board of studies, be credited for subjects corresponding to the other higher education programmes. provided that the credit amount may not exceed 50 percent of the course requirements. At the discretion of the Academic Council, exemptions from some of the requirements in a subject may be granted to students who provide evidence of having completed related studies and/or experience in these areas. 773-153 Marketing in Service Organizations 773-158 Planned Change in Organizations Students wishing to complete the Graduate Diploma in Curriculum and Graduate Diploma in Educational Administration may do so by completing ten subjects instead of twelve; the three core subjects for each diploma exam, two of the electives acceptable for both diploma exams, and two additional electives from these courses.

Course participants will describe and critique a past or present initiative from their professional work or design a curriculum development that illustrates some of the course's theoretical frameworks.

Educational Administration

In addition to various classroom activities, the course requirement is two written assignments in each course subject.
