• Email from Woy Woy WBC & The Entrance WBC – District Mixed Pairs – requests to pay for entries at Delegates meeting
• Email from Canton Beach WBC – change of address – member’s details updated
• Email from Wyong WBC – Letter from Grade 1 skips – concerns over the power of the Controlling Body. Wyong wrote of their concerns about Avoca Beach and Davistown RSL. Bea Seagrott [Davistown RSL] replied that she kept watch for lightning and called the players off in heavy rain as “duty of care”. President Dianne asked Chair of Match Carol to comment. Carol said she had spoken to the Wyong bowlers and had received conflicting reports. She said the District has no control over who is appointed as Controlling Body, it is a Club decision. She hopes that Clubs will give thought as to who they appoint as Controlling Body, and she is sure no
Controlling Body would be biased. Linda Pointing [Avoca Beach] replied that she had not heard anything about this, but will take it back to her Club. Vice President Lesley said that this matter had gone to WBNSW as the Avoca Beach players had wanted the game to finish at 36 ends. WBNSW had advised that the game must be
completed. Lesley said that many games had not been completed. The shortened game of 36 ends only applies in cases of excessive travel, so does not apply in our District. She also said that WBNSW had produced a guideline for Controlling Bodies.
Clubs need to be aware of what they need to do in relation to appointing a Controlling
Body. Dianne said that Delegates need to make sure that Clubs know what to do about appointing a Controlling Body.
• Email to Jenny Cooke – Pennants 2018 – Match committee will meet to discuss the options suggested.
• Email to all Secretaries – incomplete games – a question as to why play days were changed from Tuesday to Thursday and vice versa. Carol replied that the match committee were trying to complete two more rounds. She advised that Clubs should contact each other to arrange an agreeable play day. So far, many Clubs had already done this. A question as to why some sides need play at all in Grade 4 as they have no chance of winning. Lesley referred to the email from WBNSW about the Pennant Moratorium and games that do not need to be played. Carol added that after
Tuesday’s games the Match committee will be looking at which games need to be played.
PRESIDENT’S APRIL REPORT
Good morning LadiesWhat a difficult month we have had for Pennants with so much rain interrupting play almost every play day. Unfortunately, we have no control over the weather. There will be a difficult job ahead for our Match Committee to work out the best way to get a result if possible.
They will need full cooperation from every Club involved in playing pennants. Please give them your full support.
There have been quite a few changes coming from WBNSW lately which are being
implemented now and should serve in the long run to make our members feel more like part of the organisation and be able to ask advice on anything that may concern them. The revised Constitution is just one of the changes which introduces Gender neutral as one of the changes amongst others specifically pertinent to the individual Club or District.
Today we are implementing one of the changes in the Constitution which only allows for one Delegate from each individual Club to attend our monthly District Delegates meeting. Each Delegate is elected by their Club. There is also an option for each club to send an observer as well. To those of you who have been newly elected Delegate we welcome you to the meeting. To those of you who are old hands at coming to the meetings we welcome you no less than our new Delegates.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish each Section Pennant winner good bowling at the Post Sectional Pennant Playoffs to be held at Wyong WBC on 19thand 20th April.
To all of you entered in the State Mixed Pairs being held at Woy Woy or Halekulani on the 23rd April I wish you good bowling. Enjoy.
Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.
Dianne Elsom PRESIDENT
Dianne added to her report by welcoming new and old delegates. She added that the Hetherington Trophy would be played before the next Delegates meeting and she wished everyone all the best and good bowling.

MATCH REPORT
Well what a time we have had for this pennant season. First the heat followed by wet, wet, &
more rain. It has certainly caused problems to the pennant programme. Match is meeting on Wednesday 5th April and your clubs will have received an email regarding what decisions will be for the washed out matches.
The pennant post sectionals are taking place on the 19th & 20th April & the clubs that are participating will be sent an email covering the event.
The Hetherington Trophy entries close today. This takes place at The Entrance Club on the 1st May.
On 23rd April the NSWWBA State Mixed Pairs is being played with 44 teams entered. This is 12 more than last year & once again seems a popular event.
The winner goes on to play the winner from the Lake Maquarie district.
On behalf of Match – Carol Sternbeck
Carol added to her report by announcing that the Official Result Sheets are being sent in with no Club names, wrong dates or wrong National ID numbers. One Club has 9 players, 5 of them with 2 or 3 different ID numbers, one lady even has her home phone number as her ID number, 3 times. She asked if Clubs could please attach the losing sides cards to the Result sheets, as there are lots of loose cards. She added that at one venue, the wrong teams played each other, so please be careful. This game needs to be replayed. Carol also added that the email about the 36 ends should have been sent earlier, and she apologized for this. Emails to the participating Clubs for the Post-Sectional Playoffs will be sent as soon as we know who is playing. Also, please note that at the Hetherington Trophy, lunch will be after the two games are played.
Moved Faith Wathelet [Wyong], seconded Bev Jones [Munmorah Utd] that all reports be received.
REPORTS FROM CLUBS
Golden Hind
Pam Travers wished to draw to our attention that the Pennant draw could give some sides an advantage as they played the first 5 games away and the last 5 games at home.
Robyne explained that this is because some Clubs will only play at home on one day of the week, and maybe we should look at trying to change this.
Halekulani
Prue Wilesmith wished to thank all those clubs that sent messages and cards regarding Trish Williams.
Breakers
Margaret McCreadie advised that the Pennants raffle had been drawn and both prizes were won by Davistown RSL ladies. Also, she wanted to thank Woy Woy for cooperating with them and changing their games.
Munmorah Utd
Bev Jones advised that their greenkeeper is very concerned about bowlers who are dropping their bowls on the green and causing damage. The Club has put up signs and will warn bowlers.
Norah Head
Pat Rule asked about the Condition of Play No 3, relating to 36 ends constituting a Pennant game being deleted or re-worded.
Dianne said we need to read the sentence printed in red, and we can’t change it.
Barbara Jansen [Match Committee] thanked the District and everyone who sent her get well cards.
GENERAL BUSINESS
