T he American Society of Sugar Beet Technologists was organized 25 years ago on January 7th.

Sugar Beet Research and the Sugar Act

A significant number of deficits in those quotas were allocated to the beet sugar area. The creation of a sugar beet seed industry in the United States was a direct result of the achievements of sugar beet geneticists and breeders. M a x i m u m effectiveness was at a b o u t of 650 mu, which is in the center of the red region of the spectrum.

5% a n d 4 0% of activity was present in the two most m o b i l e bands corresponding to glycolic and lactic acid respectively. The p h o t o m u l t i p l i e r o u t p u t is corrected to give negative feedback in the optical activity in the second Faraday cell equal to the rotation of the sample. The beets are sold to a government-owned sugar plant. Forced ventilation of sugar beet stacks is practiced.

A mixture of hexane-ethyl acetate also proved suitable for the separation of the sapogenins (see Table 2). It is known that the sapogenins of the β-amy ring group (see Figure 2), oleanolic acid, hederagenin, quillaic acid and glycyrrhetinic acids, are the main components of the saponins of sugar beet (3,4), sapindus varieties, respectively. (2), soap bark and licorice. The six sapogenin spots can be thought to represent partial hydrolysis products of sugar beet saponin.

Sugar beet nematode (Heterodera schachtii) has long been recognized as one of the most serious problems of the sugar beet industry.

An extensive field testing program was conducted in California, with the majority of testing conducted in the Sacramento Valley. Incorporation of the chemicals into the soil was achieved within minutes of application using various types of equipment. Of the annual broadleaf weeds controlled by the amount of 4 pounds of T i l l a m wherever the rhizomes were (Chenopodium album), nettle goosefoot (Chenopodium murale), redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus) and purslane (Portulaca oleracea).

Positive grounding of the input slot when processing impure cyst material did not necessarily improve separation. The light scattered by the suspensoids in the sample is attenuated by the absorbers in the sample and, after reflection from the inside of the sphere. It is not practical to routinely use the primary standard, a 50 rds clear, colorless sugar solution, in standardizing the instrument.

The reference potential allows routine photometer standardization using air in the optical path through the instrument as a secondary standard. After dark current adjustment and standardized controls, the sample cell is placed in position 1 in the instrument. The transmitted sample stream is now displayed on the digital display of the Ft controller.

Rotation of the dark current control restores balance by adjusting the voltage across the potentiometer. One of the rows in each plot was treated and the other was not treated. In a given period, no significant difference can be noticed between the color of the incoming sugar and the sugar stored in the silo.

T a b l e 1 shows a small difference in the average color analysis of the air glide cars compared to the average of the campaign analysis of each strike. The upper limit of the hygrostat that controls the relative humidity of the air above the silo sugar. Progress in the development of p l a n t i n g e q u i p m e n t continues to improve the competitive position of the sugar beet farmer in the world sugar market.

The Sugar Beet Nematode,

34;Hairiness", represented by the beet on the left, often indicates the presence of the sugar beet nematode. It is therefore possible that light, undetectable infestations of the nematode may occur in southern Alberta. Increases in amino acids and other nitrogen compounds in beets are the main factors contributing to the reduction of the quality of beet juice for sugar extraction.

In elucidating the chemodynamics of the soil plant complex, several researchers have shown across multiple crops that adding fertilizer to soil can change the chemical composition of plants. Although sugar and weight were recorded for individual roots, selections were based on the amount of both amino acids. Roots of each of the five groups were space-isolated in the spring of 1959 and produced seed that fall.

The effects of the selection pressure applied in these tests were not entirely limited to nitrogen-containing compounds. This was outweighed, however, by the beneficial effects of the lower acid level, as reflected in the purity data. In this study, amino acid selections caused changes in the concentration of some carbohydrates and also of the studied mineral elements.

Most questions can be answered by creating and using control charts. The net change in the weight of the empty bag caused by this step must be determined. At this point there is some difference of opinion about the correct evaluation of the results.

It is possible that some of the seedlings in these flats were lost due to Dexon toxicity. Because summer fallow is a prerequisite for sugar beet cultivation, it is easily recognized that soil erosion and wind damage to beet seedlings are problems for the beet grower. Prepare in the spring; In the cover crop fields before planting, the residue of the cover crop is incorporated into the topsoil to prevent blow-out damage to the beet seedlings.

For the sugar beet it may well begin in the breeders' plans for vigorous, monogerm hybrids which are adapted to definite areas of production, which are suitable for mechaniza- tion,
