ASSESSMENT POLICY

A written statement outlining the assessment requirements for each unit must be provided to all students participating in the unit by the end of the first week of lectures in the unit. Where participation in such activities is at other colleges, students should be aware of the College's policy on attendance, which is outlined in 'Class Attendance' below.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

Where necessary, training in the use of the Resource Center's equipment can be arranged with the staff. The Head of Computing Services is responsible to the Executive Vice Chancellor for the implementation of the computing policies and plans adopted by the College.

SOURCES OF ASSISTANCE COUNSELLING

The College Computer Users Committee provides input to the Computing Policy and Planning Committee and liaises directly with the Computing Services Manager and with the section managers of the Computing Services Unit. The members of the College Computer Users Committee are the six chairmen of the local Computer Users Groups.

THE UNION

Union Office staff can refer students to someone who can assist with TEAS questions. Services are not static, so students should monitor notice boards, NOTA, DECAE and announcements in the Union Offices for news.

CONSTITUTION OF THE UNION

Member means a member of the Union Executive as defined in Part VII – Section 2(a) and (b) of this Constitution. Any student of the College, or any Executive Officer granted academic leave, whose current Union dues have been paid, is a member of the Union.

The Annual General Meeting of the Union will be convened in the month of September or October. Additional business may be taken at any time up to the commencement of the Meeting.

PART VII - UNION EXECUTIVE AND OFFICERS OF THE UNION

The secretary will be responsible for:-. a) convening the meetings of the Union as provided for in Part VI of this Constitution; An executive officer of the Union may resign by giving written notice to the Secretary or Acting Secretary of the Union.

CAMPUS VICE-PRESIDENTS (a)

Any such submission may be published with the permission of the relevant official. a) When a casual vacancy occurs in the Executive, such vacancy shall be filled by electing a replacement Executive Officer in a by-election (b). duly conducted at a meeting of the Union Council;. The Executive Officers of the Union shall hold office for a period of twelve months, commencing on the first day of the relevant calendar year and expiring on the last day of that year;.

PART X - ELECTIONS

Provided, that nothing contained herein shall prevent the payment in good faith of interest to such member in respect of moneys advanced by such member to the Union or otherwise due by the Union to such member, or of remuneration to officers or servants of the Union or to any Member of the Union or any other person, in return for services actually rendered to the Union. Provided that nothing herein shall be construed to prevent the reimbursement to any Member of any out-of-pocket expenses and interest or money lent or rental of goods or rental of premises transferred to the Union.

The income and property of the Union, however acquired, shall be used solely for the purpose of furthering the purposes of the Union as herein set forth, and no part thereof shall be paid or transferred, directly or indirectly, by way of dividend , bonus or otherwise. by way of profit for or among the members of the Union. Subject to the Constitution of the Brisbane College of Advanced Education and except for the correction of typographical and similar errors, this Constitution may be amended, modified, modified or repealed only by referendum or at an annual general meeting and only with a majority of two-thirds of the votes cast.

FACILITIES

Mount Gravatt Campus: There are ample parking facilities available for all members of the campus community. Kedron Park Campus: There is a swimming pool on campus, in addition to tennis and korfball courts, two ovals, an athletics track and a gymnasium.

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

The College Dance Company, 'Momentum', offers additional performance experience to selected students with performance seasons at the Woodward Theater and local venues. Regular concert performances by visiting artists, staff and students are held in the Music Building, Kelvin Grove campus.

CENTRES FOR PROMOTION OF RESEARCH AND LEARNING

Center Facilities: Apart from having its own facilities and equipment, the Center has access to all campus facilities. The Center also runs a number of in-service programs for teachers under the auspices of the Queensland Department of Education and the Queensland In-Service Education Committee.

INFORMATION AND ENQUIRIES

Reading resources, currently housed in the Curriculum Center, are available for use by teachers and students. Reading Center - Mount Gravatt Campus: Located on Level 2 of the Main Education Building on the Mount Gravatt Campus, the Reading Center opened in November 1979.

Note: In Semesters 3, 4, 5 and 6, students complete school/community study units involving attendance at schools one day per week during the semester, for eight weeks in Semesters 3 and 4, and for nine weeks in Semesters 5 and 6 The college's contact time is correspondingly reduced during these weeks to allow this time for the related child, class and school studies to be carried out in the schools.

TEACHING (PRIMARY WITH SPECIALIST EDUCATION)

10 Note: In terms 3, 4, 5 and 6, students undertake School/Community Studies units, attending schools one day per week throughout the term, for eight weeks in terms 3 and 4, and for nine weeks in semesters 5 and 6. 6. University contact hours will be reduced accordingly during these weeks to reserve this time for the related child, class and school studies to be undertaken in schools.

Students undertaking Specialist Studies in Physical Education enroll in a Level I Physical Education elective in second year, Semester 3 or 4; and in a Level II Physical Education Elective in Semester 5 or 6.

Students and Teachers Philosophy and Teaching School, Society and Society Sociology of Australian Education Learning and Teaching Psychology Strand 2 - Studies in the Teaching/Learning Process (20 credits required from compulsory units). The two compulsory units comprising this part of the course are closely linked to Studies in the Teaching/Learning Process and Curriculum and Discipline Studies.
