An Act to Repeal "Tlle Barristers Act of 1956"

[Assented tOI 31 Octo'ber 1960]

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislativ'e Assembly of Quee.nsland in Parlialnent assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follow's:- 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as "The Barristers Act of 1956 Repeal Act of 1960."

2. Repeal of 5 EJiz. 2 No.3. "The Barristers Act of 1956" is hereby repealed.

3. Savings. The repeal of "The Barristers Act of 1956" shall no:!

affect the enrolment as a barrister or the rigllt to practise as a b·arrister in Queensland of any person who, having been admitted under the pro- visions of such Act before the first day of September, one tho,usand nine hundred and sixty, to practise as a barrister of the Supreme Court o,f Queensland, is at that date enrolled as a barrister in the roll of barristers kept by the Registrar of the Supreme Court of Queensland.

The Supreme Co'urt may direct the name of any such person to b,e struck off the aforesaid roll of barristers, or may otherwise discipline him, upon pro-of that he has been guilty of conduct which renders 11im unfit to be allo'wed to cOlntinue to practise as a barrister, or which may require that he be disciplined.

Upo,n proof that any such p~erso'n has b'een deprived by the Su.p'reme Court of the State, by virtue of his right to practise wherein he was enrolled as aforesaid, ,of the right to, p,ractise in that State as a barrister, the said Registrar shall strike the name of that p'erson o,ff the roll of barristers kept by him.

4. Certain admissions vacated. Any admission under the provisions of "The Barristers Act of 1956" on air after ,the first day of September, a·ne thousand nine hundred and sixty,of any person as a barrister of the Supreme Court ·of Queensland shall, by virtue of this Act, become and be null and void on and from the passin.g of this Act.
