President’s Report—Christine Butters

This season has gone from strength to strength with our latest member registration tally sitting at 35 almost reaching the numbers we had 13 years ago in the 2004/2005 season when 330 athletes were registered. I thank each and every one of you for your patience and understanding as we process and organise such a large increase in our numbers. A special thanks to Mikaela our registrar for keeping up with the comings and go- ings of registrations and triallists. It has been very pleasing to note that we have so far had 23 children trial and only 7 who haven’t registered with us. Most of them must have enjoyed their trials and I am sure all our reg- istered athletes would have made them feel welcome. So far the weather has also been kind to us with no rain outs of competition nights to date.

Please remember that any cancellations will be posted on our website, Team App and Facebook as soon as the call is made, however sometimes this can be as late as 5.30pm depending on weather conditions. We follow the guidelines of LANSW in relation to heat and lightening policies.

Our parent roster is also working quite well and it is good to see some

regular help for Greg on the BBQ and also a rostered parent in the can- teen most weeks assisting Rebecca. Canteen sales and activity has under- standably increased remarkably this year also. A reminder to parents that if you are not going to be at the Centre for your rostered duty to let us know as soon as possible so we can ensure all events are covered ade- quately. And if you miss a week of roster please don’t hesitate to come up and volunteer the following week as we always have shortages on the field events and these areas are where we need the most assistance.

Lastly good luck to all our teams entered in the State relays. Erin has done a fabulous recruiting job and I note there are some 75 athletes involved in these teams. Remember kids it’s not all about winning but all about try- ing your best and having fun. I am sorry I won’t be at Homebush to see the kids compete but I am sure they will wear the Revesby Uniform with pride!

Season 2016/2017

U PCOMING EVENT S IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Javelin & Discus—DO not cross the infiled of the track

Long / Triple Jump—NO one should cross the track of a competing athlete

Track—Always check the track before crossing. Athletes cannot stop to avoid you and keep the finishing lines clear. Remember that NO one should run next to or on the track at any time for any reason.

State Relays:

Being held at Homebush on the 19th and 20th November. Erin is the team manager and details about parking and the list of events and times can be found on the Little Athletics Association website:

http://www.lansw.com.au/Competition/Championships/State-Relay-Championships Good luck to all our athletes competing. Have fun!

Zone Entries:

Zone entries have now closed and we have had 53 athletes enter Zone. Thank you to all the parents who have paid their roster deposit, a number queried this and while it seems a little harsh we need to ensure we have enough parents at the grounds to cover our rostered duties. We have unfortunately been let down by parents in the past who have just not turned up and not let anyone know. As soon as the roster is finalised this will be emailed to families and posted on our noticeboard. This is an ideal time also to encourage parents/athletes to download our Team App to your smart phones as you will be able to get live results at the carnival via this app.

To do this Follow these steps: 1. Download Team App from the Apple or Google Play app store. 2.

Sign up to Team App. You will be sent an email to confirm your registration. 3. Log into the App and search for "RWLAC". 4. Choose your applicable access group(s). 5. If you don't have a smartphone go to rwlac.teamapp.com to sign up and view this App online.

Athletes list of events will be posted also as soon as it is finalised by the Zone data manager. It is hoped that we will have some approximate times for events also to give parents a better guide as to when to be at the grounds. A big thank you in advance to Erin as Team Manager, Mikaela and Barry who will be chief judges on throws over the weekend and Ben who will be assisting as a runner on the Saturday.

Bunnings Fundraising BBQ

We have been fortunate to secure a Bunning BBQ day at Milperra Bunnings on Saturday 3rd December and will be seeking parents to assist us for an hour or two on the day. This is an easy way for us to raise $1000+ towards our end of season trophies. Please consider assisting and put your name on our roster at the sign on desk.

McDonald’s Fun Night

In the past four years we have held a Christmas Fun Night at Padstow McDonalds (Cnr Arab Rd). This is a casual night where McDonalds dedicates several cash registers to our Centre from 5pm-8pm and we are given a percentage of the takings. We use this as our donation to the Bill Bullard Charity at Revesby Workers’ Club (our major sponsor) So we invite you all to come along to this years’ McDon- alds Fun Night at Padstow on Monday 12th December, spend a couple of hours with us, purchase din- ner for the family and perhaps the kids will get to see the Jolly Man in the Red Suit! Athletes are asked to wear their uniform as this helps to raise our profile in the Community also.

This Friday is Week 3 in our program. All parents rostered as Week 3 helpers, please be signed on by 6:10 pm ready to start at 6:30 pm sharp. Please check your emails for the duty roster schedule.

Thank you to all those parents who have diligently signed on and completed their ros- tered duties to date. Signing on serves two purposes, we know what helpers we have and it is also a document that verifies your presence and assistance should you be injured while assisting at an event which then allows LANSW to provide insurance cover for you. Signing on and then retreating to the carpark or worse leaving the grounds is not permitted. All athletes must have a responsible adult present in the competition area at all times. Any athlete found to not have an adult responsible for them will be sat out of competition.

Information about the following Carnivals and Coaching opportunities is on the Noticeboard.

Ingleburn LAC Parents and Athletes Coaching Day 13.11.16

Peter Bottrill (committee member and coach) will be conducting coaching sessions in middle distance running events on Wednesday afternoons from 4:45 pm.

These sessions are available to all athletes in the U10 to U17 age groups which will be held at the athletics field which commenced Wednesday, 14th September.

Cost is $2.00 per athlete.

Any interested athletes should contact Peter on 0407 904 146 and leave your name and number for Peter to contact participants on any changes to schedule depend- ing on weather.

Maureen, our Records & Rankings officer will continue to get records up onto the website as soon as possible. The first 5 weeks can now be viewed on our website.

Parents who are on roster & doing recording need to mindful of the records for each event. These are at the top of the event recording sheets. If you think an ath- lete may have broken a record, do not clear the stop watch, move the implement (throws) or rake the sand (jumps). A record needs to be verified & signed off by a committee member. Please radio to the announcer for a committee member to attend the event. If this is not done, the athlete misses out on being credited with the record.

For track events two stopwatches are required to verify the record. The slowest stopwatch time shall be applied; for field events record to be verified by a com- mittee member before the event continues on to the next attempt.
