Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering span four years and lead to the B.Sc. Most departments under the various faculties offer master's degrees, and some of the departments have Ph.D.' programs. At present, there are around 47 well-qualified lecturers in the department who specialize in one of the above-mentioned areas.

MAGLUB AL NUR; B.SC.Engg.(Mech.), aUET; M.Engg., Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Ph:O.,. Energy systems modeling, energy economics and management, energy and environment, automobiles). MAKSUD HELALI; B.SC.Engg.(Mech.), BUET; M.Sc.Engg., BUET; PhD., Dublin City University, Ireland (Materials, fracture mechanics). FEROZ; B.St.Engg.(Mech.), BUET; M.Sc.Engg., BUET; PhD., Ibaraki University, Japan (Phase change heat transfer).

ABDUL AZIM; B.SC.Angl.(Mech.), BUET; M.Sc.Engg., BUET;- M,Engg., Dublin City University, Ireland, PhD., BUET (Surface Engineering, CFD, Turbulence). Ehgg., Tohoku University, Japan; PhD., Tohoku University, Japan (Composite Materials, Functionally Graded Materials (FGM), Fracture Mechanics, Elasticity).

Facilities Offered by the Department

A large number of PCs are available in the department's Computer Laboratory to make students computer literate. The courses and syllabus followed by this department for the above-mentioned degrees are the most modern, comparable to those of advanced countries, but also suitable to local needs. A mechanical engineer is expected to take responsibility for the design, manufacture and installation of industrial and production facilities and for their operation and/or maintenance.

The department's teachers meet regularly - to review the courses and their content; necessary changes are made to update needs and trends from time to time.

COURSE SYSTEM*

Thus, the course content of the university programs offers a harmonious blend of both the fundamental and their senses. Credits for laboratory/sessional or design courses will be one-half of the class hours per week for the semester". He can keep pace with his class by taking during the Short Term those courses he missed during the Regular Term:: ;, or covering the entire degree program on one.

In each discipline, a number of courses will be identified as "core courses", which form the core of the relevant bachelor's degree program. Any such course, upon which one or more subsequent courses are built, may be offered in either of two regular terms. Courses to be offered in a given term will be announced and published in our Catalog along with a tentative schedule of terms (Appendix 2) before the end of the previous semester.

Depending on the student enrollment strength (ie number of students) enrolled in the course, the teacher in question may have course associates and teaching assistants. In addition to other teachers of the department, the committee may also propose from time to time.

Student Adviser

The original copy of: the Course Registration Form will be submitted to the Registrar's Office, and then the required number of photocopies will be made by the Registrar's Office for distribution. Advance registration for courses offered by the students in a particular term will be done on a particular date before the end of the previous term. Student must register for the courses to be taken before the start of each term and no late registration will be accepted after one week of classes.

Students must register for the courses to be taken before the beginning of each semester, and no post-registration will be accepted after one week of classes. The original copy of the Course Adjustment Form is submitted to the Office of the Registrar and then the required number. The reminder of the grades will be assigned to the TERM FINAL exam, which will be conducted centrally by the university.

For each course there are internal and external examiners during the semester. Final exam of 3 hours. The continuous assessment schedule that a teacher wishes to follow for a course will be announced on the first day of class. Evaluation of performance on quizzes will be based on the best quizzes.

Courses in which a student has achieved a '0' or higher _grade will be counted as credit points earned by _. Courses in which the student has achieved a grade of 'D' or higher will count as earned credit. If a student receives a grade of 'D' in a course he will be allowed to repeat the course with the intention of improving his grade by waiving the previous grade but.

If a student obtains a grade lower than 'B' in a course, he/she will be allowed to repeat the course only once for the purpose of grade improvement by abandoning his/her earlier grade" but he/she she will not be eligible to get a grade better than 'B' in such a course. A student will be allowed to repeat a maximum of four courses in B.Sc Engg for grade improvement purposes. Or a course as a special course will be run, will be determined by the relevant head of department in consultation with the relevant teacher/course coordinator.

It will only be offered if the course is not offered in that term as a . regular course. A student will be allowed to register for a maximum of two courses on a self-study basis;. Student will be allowed to register in a maximum of two courses during the Short Term.

The minimum credit requirements for the award of a bachelor's degree in engineering and architecture are determined by the respective Undergraduate Board of Studies.
