Executive Summary

NEWS24 is a fast growing Television Channel. The channel has a clear advantage over the competitors. NEWS24 has some additional features in comparison to its competitors. NEWS24 is the best 24 hours live channel in Bangladesh. The News of NEWS24 is playing a vital role to increase the subscribers and customers.

Internship provides the opportunity for exploring professional skill and gaining more knowledge about professionalism. Being a student of Journalism & Mass Communication I have learned about television journalism. How a visual media works, structure of a television channel, how newsroom people work, how production team work, how to work under more pressure. Apart from institutional learning I also learned how practical journalism practice is going on in Bangladeshi broadcast media. This is an internship report on my working experience in News department at NEWS24. It starts with an introduction about NEWS24 followed by the activities of the channel. It gives briefing about work flow of NEWS24, how News team works and my responsibilities there. I have tried to design the chapters chronologically about function and working flow of NEWS24, different departments of the channel and how these work. The report also include about the marketing system which is used by NEWS24. Also it discusses mission, vision, goals and operational description of NEWS24. It also includes some necessary statistics. I then tried to spell out my personal &

professional experiences as an intern. At end of this report I included observation of my professional gaining, learning and limitations during the internship.

Chapter one Introduction

1.1 About of news 24.

NEWS24 started as a private television station. It is one of the latest TV channel in Bangladesh.

Chairman of Bashundhara Group Limited Ahmed Akbar Sobhan. Mr. Safwan Sobhan is the Managing Director of NEWS24. Mr. Ahmed Akbar Sobhan is the Chairman of this channel. Mr.

Borhanul Haque Shamrat, Mr. Mijanur Rahman are Editors and Mr. Anwer Sadi is the Senior Editors of NEWS24. The channel has set to join the fleet of media stations by frequenting its television sets. NEWS24 started test runs from 26 March 2016. The Channel was officially launched on 28 July 2016. The name of the new station was chosen to open up the vision of 24/7-hours News Channel. We know today media is playing an important role in presenting news and views.

1.3 What is internship?

Internship is an opportunity for student to gain work experience in their respective industry which plays an important role in a students life to learn practically along with previously learnt theoretical education and give a sound knowledge where to apply the theoretical knowledge effectively.in short it builds a bridge between theory and real life .it also teaches students team work, work ethics and under working pressure

1.4 Background of my internship

In order to complete my graduation I had complete my internship.my preferred sector was sports journalism. That’s why I join sports journalism

And my supervisor his name was Mahfuj islam he is a sports journalist and he is staff reporter and also a presenter at news 24.he generally helped me to discover some new information during my temporary job period. All the worker of news 24 were cordial and accommodating. They share their involvement in me and they help me a great deal in those weeks for entry level position.

1.5 About my professional supervisor

The name of my supervisor Mahfuj islam. He is the sports journalist and also presenter at news24 and he is the accountable for sports work area at news24.

Finally I done my internship .started at 17 february and finised.

CHAPTER FOUR EVALUATION of

LEARNING

4.1 Academic Learning and Practical Work

Scholarly learning is hypothetical based learning but down to earth or practical work implies something that becomes useful. Many would argue that classroom learning or learning from books doesn't work perfectly in the professional field. But those who can translate the classroom learning into practical world efficiently will sustain in the profession. Scholarly learning is generally restricted to books only but the practical work has no bounds. The scope of practical work extends more and more.

4.2 Expectation and Experience

My desire in the internship was to learn professionalism, practical working, realities in the practical field and above all the practical journalism in the field. My supervisor Mahfuj Islam consistently helped me gain useful practical knowledge during my internship period. All the representatives of the News 24 channel were well disposed and supportive. They share their involvement in me and they help me a great deal in those weeks for internship.
