• The Multifaceted Role of the analyst-
– Change Agent
– Investigator and Monitor – Architect
– Psychologist – Salesperson
– Motivator, and – Politician
Change Agent
• System may be changed or reoriented
• People inherently resist the change
• Excessive change should be handled carefully
• The analyst may select various styles to introduce change
– Persuader to imposer
• Persuader when user have a tolerance for change
• Imposer when for drastic change
Investigator or Monitor
• Why the present system is not work well and what changes will correct the problem
– Answer can be found through investigation
• To undertake and successfully complete a project the analyst must monitor the program in relation to time
• Time is important because-
– Implementation delay may increase cost
Architect
• Similar to building planning
• The analyst role as a liaison between
– User’s logical design requirement and the detailed physical system design
• The analyst creates the detailed physical system design
– Abstract ideas to details physical design
Psychologist
• As a psychologist the analyst
Reaches people, Interpret thought,
Assesses behavior, and Draw conclusion
Salesperson
• Selling change can be crucial as initiating change
• Through oral presentation
Motivator
• System acceptance is done through
– User participation in its development – Effective user training, and
– Proper motivation
• The analyst role as a motivator is obvious during first few weeks after implementation
Politician
• Analyst tries to calm down all parties involved
• Diplomacy and assurance can improve acceptance
• Politician support his/her constituency
• Analyst presents their thinking and tries to achieve their goal
