Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) is one of the leading private universities in Bangladesh.
IUB has launched the Department of Economics in 2007 under the School of Business;
the largest school of the university both in terms of the number of faculty members and students. The course curricula of the Economics Department have been meticulously designed incorporating both the theoretical aspects and practical applications of Economics. The Department emphasizes the quantitative aspects of economic theories and applications in conformity with the contemporary global trend in this discipline. The mission of this
Department is to create future leaders of international standard who will prove to be exceptionally competent in confronting the challenges in their respective professions. The department is run by highly trained and competitive faculties.

These are American Standard degree programs. Bsc Economics program is fully accredited by ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) Msc program is under review of accreditation in the next cycle.

The Economics faculty members are highly academically qualified and have degrees from reputed universities around the globe; e.g. North America, Europe, and Australia. Besides classroom teaching, they are also actively involved in several research projects both inside and outside university. They have active participation and presentation in International conferences and workshops. The Department of Economics regularly arranges seminars with distinguished scholars of international reputations and encourage and facilitate faculty participation in such activities .
Students The Department hosts a quite good number of highly competent students whose CGPAs are among the best in the university.

Required Qualifications Key Selection Criteria
• PhD degree in Economics from reputed/recognized university
• A minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 at the Master’s degree level
• No third class at the bachelor’s degree level
• University level of teaching experience of five years as an Assistant Professor
• At least three publications in Economics area in reputed journals as an Assistant Professor of which one is in a journal/venue of international standard
• Proficiency in English and Bangla
• Age must be less than 55 years at the time of appointment
Desirable Knowledge and Skills
• Candidate must have specialization in Mathematical Economics
• Candidates must demonstrate significant potential and promise of teaching effectiveness and excellence at the undergraduate and post graduate levels, active scholarship, a track record curriculum development, student advising abilities, as well as other service to the DoE, School of Business, and community.
• Experience in actively participating in research projects, conferences and seminars.
• Candidates are also expected to have effective oral and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary collegial environment.
Position’s Responsibilities
• Teaching Economics courses including Micro economics, Econometrics, Macroeconomics, Mathematical Economics, International Trade, and Public Finance in both undergraduate and graduate level programs.
• Conduct researches and make publications in internationally reputed journals.
• Supervise Bsc senior research projects
• Contribute in course curriculum enhancement.
• Provide adequate office hour for student counseling and tutorial
• Actively participate and contribute to several activities of the department (e.g. Conference, seminars, workshops organized by DoE).
