THCOUNCIL MEETING
The 9th Meeting of the Council of Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) was held on 08 November 2007 at Mirpur Cantonment, Dhaka. Mr. Ayub Quadri, Formaer Hon’ble Advisor, Ministry of Education presided over the meeting. Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam, ndu, psc, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahman, ndc, fawc, psc, representative of Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, ndc, psc, Principal Staff Officer Armed Forces Division, Commandant MIST, Engineer-in-Chief, Bangladesh Army, Members from University of Dhaka (DU), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Science and Information & Communication Technology were also present in the meeting.
Discussion on Annual Budget 2008-2009, Employment Policy of Civil Teachers/Officers, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between different National/International Universities / Organizations and MIST, Increased Number of Student Admission in MIST, Higher Education Policy for Teachers/Instructors, etc was held and necessary decisions were taken.

THACADEMIC COUNCIL MEETING
The 26th Meeting of the Academic Council of MIST was held on 28 November 2007. Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc chaired the meeting and representatives/members from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Finance, Armed Forces Division, Army Headquarters, Naval Headquarters, Air Headquarters and the concerned members of MIST were present in the meeting. Deliberate discussion on various important academic related agenda like Withdrawal of students from different programs, Fees of different Academic Programs, Academic Calendar of 2007-2008, Launching of Aeronautical Engineering Program, Students’ Stipend and Scholarship, Honorarium of Part Time-Teachers/Laboratory Technician for the term July- November 2007, etc were discussed and appropriate decisions were taken accordingly.
The 13th Meeting of the Governing Body of MIST was held on 05 September 2007 at MIST. Engineer-in-Chief, Bangladesh Army, Major General Md. Ismail Faruque Chowdury chaired the meeting. Representatives from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Ministry of Defence, Director of Training, Armed Forces Division, Director of Naval Training and Director of Air Training and the concerned members of MIST were present in the meeting. A number of important agenda like proposed revenue budget for the financial year 2008-2009, Academic schedule 2007-2008, induction of military cadets to MIST and introduction of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps platoon activities at MIST were discussed.

INTER-DEPARTMENT VOLLEYBALL COMPETITION 2007
Inter-Department Volleyball Competition 2007 was held at MIST from 02 September to 06 September 2007. A Total of 04 teams participated in the competition. Civil Engineering Department & Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering Department became the champion & runner-up respectively.
Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc was the Chief Guest on the final day and distributed prizes amongst the winners.
Inter-Department Table Tennis Tournament 2007 was held at MIST between 15 July to 19 July 2007. A Total of 04 teams participated in the tournament. Civil Engineering Department & Electrical, Electronic and Communication Engineering Department became the champion & runner-up respectively. Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc, was the Chief Guest on the final day and distributed prizes amongst the winners.

VISIT-MIRZAPUR CADET COLLEGE TEAM
Inter-Department Debate Competition 2007 was held at MIST from 29 July to 09 August 2007. A Total of 05 teams participated in the competition. Department of Management Studies & Computer Science and Engineering Department became the champion & runner-up respectively. Major Sheikh Md Zillur Rahman of Management Studies Department got the best award. Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc, was the Chief Guest on the final day and distributed prizes amongst the winners.
A 57-member team of Mirzapur Cadet College visited MIST on 19 August 2007. After a proper briefing session they have visited around the MIST premises including classrooms, library and laboratories.

SEMINAR ON ‘SAVING DHAKA FROM FLOOD AND OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS’
A 100-member team of 50th Batch of BCS Officers visited MIST on 22 August 2007.
After a proper briefing session they have visited around the MIST premises including classrooms, library and laboratories.
Civil Engineering Department of MIST organized a seminar on ‘SAVING DHAKA FROM FLOOD AND OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS’ on 06 September 2007 at the MIST. Vice- Chancellor of BUET Professor, Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah was the Chief Guest of the seminar. Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc was the Special Guest on the occasion. Head of the Civil Engineering Department of MIST, Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc, was the moderator. Professor Dr. Monowar Hossain, Department of Water Resources Engineering, BUET, was the keynote speaker. Besides, Professor Md. Mozibur Rahman, Department of Civil Engineering, BUET and Md. Shamssuddoha, Lecturer, Department of Civil Engineering, MIST presented their papers. Speakers of the seminar mentioned the causes and remedy of the natural disaster and flood in Dhaka. Representatives from Engineer-in-Chief, Bangladesh Army, Roads and Highways Department, Dhaka City Corporation (DCC), Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), Water Supply and Sewarage Authority (WASA), Flood Forecasting Center, BUET, Ahasanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), The Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) were present in the seminar. High officials of Armed Forces Division and teachers/officers of MIST were also present in the seminar.

INAUGURATION OF MIST STUDENTS’ TRAINING PROGRAM ON VOTER REGISTRATION PROCESS
An elementary technical general training program on Voter List & National ID Card registration process was held on 18 November 2007 at MIST. Military Secretary (M.S) Bangladesh Army, Major General Shafiqul Islam, ndc, psc inaugurated the training program. Around 520 students of MIST were present in the program. MS gave different guidelines and instructions to be followed during on ground assignment. Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc and all local Brigade Commanders were present in the occasion.
Admission Test-2007 of civil students was held on 01 December 2007. For Engineering programs, students from science group obtaining minimum GPA 4.6 (without 4th subject) in HSC were eligible to appear at the admission test. For MBA Program, students qualified in Bachelors Degree or its equivalent with minimum eight points without any 3rd division or class were allowed. Altogether 1552 candidates for Engineering program and 226 candidates for MBA program appeared in the admission test .Out of those, 932 candidates for Engineering Department and 106 for MBA program were qualified and subsequently called for viva-voce and medical test.

A farewell tea was arranged in honour of BD/8441 Wing Commander Forhad Ahmed Tanvir, psc on 13 Sep 07, who served in MIST as General Staff Officer Grade-I (Exam) from 26 December 05 to 20 September 07.
BA-3766 Major Md Alamgir Hossain, AEC was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on 13 Sep 07 and posted as Instructor Class ‘A’ in Science & Humanities Department. Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc and Dean, Brigadier General Md Tajul Islam decorated him with the badges of new rank.
BA-2341 Lieutenant Colonel Md Sharafat Hossain, psc was promoted to the rank of Colonel on 13 Sep 07 and posted as Colonel Staff of MIST.
Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc and the head of Civil Engineering Department, Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc decorated him with the badges of new rank.
BA-2497 Lieutenant Colonel Md Abul Khair was promoted to the rank of Colonel on 12 Aug 07 and posted as Senior Instructor in Civil Engg Dept of MIST. Commandant MIST, Major General Abdul Wadud, ndu, psc, and the head of Civil Engineering Department, Brigadier General Habibur Rahman Kamal, psc decorated him with the badges of new rank.

A farewell dinner was arranged in honour of BA- 1667 Colonel Md Tawfiqul Anam, psc G+ on 05 August 07, who served in MIST as Director Administration from 09 November 04 to 11 August 07.
A farewell tea was arranged in honour of BA- 2931 Major Shamim Ahsan Juglul, psc, Engrs on 13 September 07, who served in MIST as Deputy Assistant Adjutant and Quarter Master General (DAA&QMG) from 22 November 06 to 21 September 07.
A farewell dinner was arranged in honour of BA- 1692 Col Kazi Anwar-ul-Islam afwc, psc on 25 October 07, who served in MIST as Director Administrtion from 12 July 07 to 29 September 07.
A farewell dinner was arranged in honour of BA- 1961 Major Masumul Hasan on 25 October 07, who served in MIST as Accounts Officer from 18 November 05 to 27 October 07.

A farewell dinner was arranged in honour of BSS-1747 Lt Col Muhammad Aminur Rahman psc, Sigs on 27 December 07, who served in MIST as Head Department of Management Studies from 22 October 06 to 31 December 07.
A farewell dinner was arranged in honour of BA- 2524 Major Abdul Maleque Miazee, psc, Sigs on 27 December 07, who served in MIST as General Staff Officer Grade-II (Research) from 28 September 05 to 31 December 07.
