1 Job Title: Manger, Health and Safety
Position Purpose
Develop & Establish the occupational health & safety management system ensuring minimum loss/accident, risk register & reducing OHS hazards with control measures, drive to develop a health safety culture at BRACU main/esidential Campus and as well as for the students/faculties/stakeholders. Assess for developing the action plan and Implement health safety environmental related risk mitigation measures along with vast hands on knowledge at firefighting installations.
Liaison with internal and external stakeholders. Capacity building of safety staff and development plan. Build a sustainable culture of safer working environment across university community.
Organizational Relationships Position Type: Regular
Reporting to: Director, Operations
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Must return to duty whenever needed.
Functional Relationships:
Internal Contacts: Students, Faculty, Staff, Deans. Directors, Registrar office. Student life External Contacts: External stakeholders including Law enforcement agencies of the government, fire brigade
1.0 Key Accountabilities
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
1.1.1 Identify & health safety environment related issues, prioritize, take preventive measures for avoiding accidents, develop safe procedures, conduct safety awareness training, practices and drills
1.1.2 Ensure building and structural safety of BRACU establishments and facilities regulatory licenses in coordination with relevant department in line with BNBC, RAJUK, CDA, KDA, RDA, Pourasava and other relevant regulations 1.1.3 Ensure all security equipments and security technologies are properly utilized
and updated
1.1.4 Develop checklists and ensure team engagements with team in quality inspection of buildings related electrical safety, fire safety, food safety, also WTP, STP environment related issues to ensure the workplace safety
1.1.5 Find out the innovative preventive solutions based the site risks assessment of BRACU campus, residential campus and major establishments. Advise &
assist Safety in-charge/management to any safety related concerns
1.1.6 Ensure Investigation of security related incidents and breaches and manage security incidents systematically and efficiently
1.1.7 Prepare monthly report of the major incident and share the learnings along with the improvement plan on developing safety culture.

2 1.1.8 Maintain relationships and liaisons with law enforcement and security
agencies
1.1.9 Assist in the development, annual reviews and upgrading of existing safety programs. Conduct safety secunty awareness training, capacity building of security staff and guards, fire safety drill and any other related practical and theoretical session for the staff
1.1.10 Detailed understanding of Chemical safety, MSDS, storage, machine safety massive engineering work, confined space, work at height, excavation, heavy lifting work, transport safety. LOTOTO, etc. and ensure stakeholders to deliver work ensuring all necessary safety gears with zero accidents. Ensure submission of security reports regularly and as and when required
1.1.11 Lead a group of technical staff and distribute job ensuring utilizing appropriate resource utilizations, steps of developing safety team, engage them to take innovative/frugal sustainable steps for ensuring occupational health & safety at whole campus. Deployment of security personnel recruitment and training of security personnel
1.1.12 Develop an effective training calendar, visit plan and maintain accordingly for the organization on building health safety culture across the BRACU
1.1.13 Assessments on time to time and maintaining safety practices, develop SOPS and deliver effectively, ensuring stakeholders are following properly
1.1.14 Proper maintenance of safety equipments/systems for ensuring smooth functionality
1.1.15 Effective budgeting for all health and safety related activities and future plan for investment
1.1.16 Engaging students, faculties positively in ensuring safety practices acros university environment
1.2 General Duties & Responsibilities
1.2.1 Administrative Duties relating to all matters that the membership of a University entails, including cross institutional wide activities.
1.2.2 General Responsibility to undertake all other duties as directed by the supervisor.
1.3 Qualifications
a) B.Sc. Engineering degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Production/Chemical or relevant degree
b) A relevant professional qualification/degree on Environment, Health (EH&S)
Knowledge, Skills and Aptitudes
1.3.1 Practical experiences seasoned professional in Safety, factory environment or engineering hands on operational experiences about safety management system with Engineering background preferred min 5-6 years worked in a big/well reputed organization
1.3.2 Strong interpersonal skills and are adept at building relationships with different stakeholders

3 1.3.3 Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in Bangla and English 1.3.4 Proficiency in MS Office applications and the use of Internet
1.3.5 Excellent organizational skills

1.3.7 Experience of using initiative and creativity to resolve problems, identifying suitable solutions and opportunities for improvement

1.4 Other Duties
