It is our pleasure to hereby submit the project paper on “A Study on Construction Management of Various Substations in Bangladesh with special reference to 132/33KV Substations at Keraniganj and Barguna”. This is to confirm that the project is “A study on construction management of various substations in Bangladesh with special reference to 132/33KV substations at Keraniganj and Barguna.” The final report of the project was done by Md.

Introduction

Background of the Study

12 The construction works of the 132/33KV transformer stations, both completed and ongoing, are in a significant part of the construction, renovation, expansion connected to the national high-voltage transmission main distribution network, but it uses its capacities in the framework of other tasks as well, e.g. The construction activity of RTP 132/33KV is built on the available, highly qualified staff of experts and on a fleet of modern drives, devices and tools, as well as on decades of knowledge.

Objectives of the Study

Methodology

Conduct a pilot study with people who are pioneers in project management and get feedback on the questions and their perspectives. Make any necessary changes to the questions based on the information from the pilot study.

Organization of the Report

In this chapter, the problems of construction activities that are the cause of the delay of the project are found. Chapter Eight: CPM and Bar Chart of Construction Activities: This chapter develops the CPM chart and bar chart of the project activities.

Background

Importance of Construction Management

Introduction

Site Selection

A topographic survey or land survey is an accurate representation of the area of interest and shows all natural and man-made features with levels. This Methodology of Topographical Survey includes the following activities (1) Installation of benchmarks. 3) Topographical surveys for pipeline route, with scale 1:500 and grid with an interval of 100 m.

Sub Soil Investigation

It is part of the foundation and is used to distribute the loads over the piles. Piles are used when the grounding is not enough to carry the loads of the structure. The soil around piles will be removed to the necessary levels and dimensions that allow construction of the pile cap.

It is recommended to close the waterproof cover, especially in the areas of high water level and harsh environment. The surface of the liner must be thoroughly cleaned to increase the adhesion of the waterproofing membrane. The concrete cover should be maintained after fixing the shutters as shown in the drawing.

Locating and installing anchor bolts can have a huge impact on the rest of the project. So it is very important to know the construction process of the RC column well.

Backfill the Foundations in Substation Yard

For small quantities of concrete we usually depend on machine-mixed concrete, but for larger quantities we order ready-mixed concrete. Because if you are using a mobile pump with ready-mixed concrete and you don't want to exceed the height range of 1.5m for the concrete drop, it would be difficult. In this case, you must manually unload the concrete from the ready-mixed concrete truck at the site and manually pour it into the column.

Assemble the Steel Structures

After the framework is built, we install the equipment on the foundations and steel structures. Each device is then connected to the control room, which is under construction. The project ends with the landscaping: we plant trees, create mounds of soil and do more work as needed.

We perform earthworks, demobilize the site and perform the final inspection to complete the project.

Introduction

Site Selection

Technical aspects that can influence the site selection process could include the following

Location of the substation compared to the direction of incoming and outgoing lines is an important factor in determining its location.

Activity causing Impact and Location

Work Process

Substation Layout

Development of benches by cutting and filling inside the substation bays to ensure proper placement of all equipment. Planned cut and fill will lead to soil erosion, soil runoff, potential water logging, suitable places to dispose of excess soil, felling of trees on site. Waterlogged/steep slopes/deteriorated sites must be avoided when selecting the substation location.

The layout of the site should be such that the cutting of trees, soil should be minimized.

Design and Drawing

Procurement

Difference Between Indirect, Direct, and Services Procurement

It involves procuring quality goods and services from preferred vendors within a set budget, on or ahead of schedule. It is the series of processes that are essential for obtaining products or services from requisition to approval of purchase order and invoice. The number of interested parties is directly proportional to the risk and value of the purchase.

This refers to the paperwork and documentation involved in each stage of the procurement process, all of which is collected and retained for reference and audit purposes. In order for the public procurement management process to be fair, transparent and efficient, a good understanding of the public procurement process is crucial. While ordering processes vary across organizations, the flow chart below summarizes the important steps in the ordering process.

Steps Involved in a Procurement Process

Choosing automated purchasing management software instead of relying on emails and Excel sheets will speed up the purchasing process, ensure accuracy, improve efficiency, and save time and resources. With the Kissflow Procurement Cloud, organizations can create a dynamic procurement management process that gives them a tactical advantage. Kissflow provides tools and resources every company needs to automate end-to-end purchasing and scale up or down to meet their business needs.

Introduction

They fulfill the responsibility of maintaining the supply of materials so as not to stop production. Ensure that stocks at each storage location in the supply chain are up-to-date.

Importance of Materials Management

Objectives of Materials Management

These goals are called the 5 R's of materials management; are procurement of materials and services.

Planning and Control

Receive and check the material safely and the good condition it should have. It is the collection of materials needed to complete production and their tracking. With this so that you can keep track of the performance that the company has and also its finances.

With a well-managed inventory, cost decisions can be much easier when it comes to purchases, as you can see what is needed to produce and how much you could invest, trying to maintain good costs with the necessary balance. It also helps to have what you have stored in your warehouse and a record of the process that went into production from arrival to delivery.

Inventory Control

The objective of this department is to maintain the flow of materials and services necessary for the operation of the company. Selection of procurement sources, final determination of procurement conditions and their monitoring, maintenance of relations with suppliers, approval of payments to suppliers, evaluation and assessment of supplier development. When the material is delivered, physical control, storage and maintenance of records, correct location and storage are carried out in warehouses.

It is the follow-up of the material process, to know that everything has the flow necessary in the production of the products. It also makes the Management of Materials the main factor to give a final product to the customer, as it is able to control the quality, the purchase, the production of the product or service offered in the final straight of delivery management, the Management makes everything go through the necessary filters to obtain the best results of delivery. The Management of Materials started to be implemented in the industrial companies through the productive system of machinery, nevertheless it is still used nowadays by modern companies that have plans of work that are very different from the companies of the industrial era, but still find themselves lead with the management. of materials for the productivity of their processes, the fulfillment of deliveries and the economic pursuit of the raw material or the things needed so that the processes do not stop and can follow the suitable flow for the final delivery.

Construction projects have been managed since old age, but recently the great revolution in technology and the significant changes in construction substations have forced changes in the way projects are managed. The main purpose of this research was to study the situation of project management in the West Bank and to identify the problems of managing construction projects. This research has proposed a framework to organize the management of construction projects, and to achieve the long-term and short-term goals, it provides a basis for the successful management of construction.

This research is done to help and develop the work of project managers to produce better work that is well defined between the strategic and operational components.
