A bank is commonly known as an intermediary because its objective is to collect deposits from depositors and make loans to borrowers. Bangladesh Bank, the national central bank and primary regulator of the monetary and financial system, has a significant share of commercial banking in its financial sectors. In order to remain competitive in the banking industry, all companies are looking for new ways to provide better services to their customers.
As a result, it has become essential for everyone to have a basic understanding of banking and banking procedures. Since the main financial intermediaries are banks, I found that Global Islami Bank Limited was one of the most recently established prominent banks in the banking sector of Bangladesh, which made me very eager to work here as an intern. The purpose of the internship course is to help the students become familiar with the business world, so that they can apply their theoretical skills in their practical life.
I have taken this internship to make sure that I can apply all the theoretical knowledge I have gathered and survive in the business world. I have decided to do an internship at Global Islami Bank Limited, Gulshan Corporate Branch and I am currently working on an internship report that will highlight the overall activities of the branch. The main objective of this report is to gain an understanding of Global Islami Bank Limited's staff training and development program through analysis and fundamental understanding.
To familiarize with the actual training and development process at Global Islami Bank Limited. From this report, it is clear how training and development of employees take place and how they are carried out throughout the year. In addition, the study will help distinguish between theories and practices that contribute to the understanding of the bank's performance as an organization in supporting the entire training and development process.
The scope of this study is limited by the authoritative arrangement arrived at through lengthy discussions with bank representatives and the information gathered through Global Islami Bank Limited's website, HR Policy Manual and Annual Report. I have collected secondary data from multiple sources including the annual report of Global Islami Bank Limited and their official websites.

Among the three banks striving to fulfill the desire of those who want to maintain Bangladesh's connection with the outside world is NRB Global Bank Limited. Then, on 3rd January 2021, this bank started its journey as an Islamic bank named 'Global Islami Bank Limited'. Nizam Chowdhury, the bank's original chairman, has over three decades of professional experience in the US, and the other directors are similarly renowned in their respective fields.
Their aim is to integrate the huge unbanked population into the banking system, not to limit banking services to a specific group of people. The aim is for the bank to truly expand throughout the world and provide superior services everywhere. An important milestone in the bank's operations was achieved when, as the first bank of its kind in the fourth generation, it received permission to operate Islamic banking in addition to classical banking.
This was followed by authorization from the Bangladesh Bank to convert the bank from a conventional to an Islamic bank and to start full Islamic banking operations under the principles of Islamic Shariah under the name "Global Islami Bank Limited", replacing the earlier name "NRB Global Bank Limited". . Human resource management combines planning manpower needs, identifying the best candidates for a job, arranging salaries and benefits, providing guidance and inspiration, evaluating the process, solving problems and interacting with all delegates at all levels. The term "human resource management" basically describes the ability to use authority to focus on matters related to each individual, including acquisition, performance, compensation, business improvement, safety, strength, benefits, motivation, consistency, organizational readiness, etc. In order to improve an individual's ability to perform on the job, the goal of training is to achieve a sustained change in the individual's performance.
It may mean a change in the representatives' understanding, way of functioning, willingness to work or cooperation with their officials. In addition, the training aims to improve these specific experiences and skills to ensure that they can start working immediately and also to identify if the employee is underperforming. It is necessary to introduce the colleagues, give an explanation of the framework and comment on the assigned task.
Training strategies are planned according to the needs of possible circumstances in the association. This bank ensures a suitable organizational environment and cultural values, rules and regulations, mainly by establishing this type of education. This training method is the process of familiarizing new employees with their roles in the organization by introducing them to the organization's values, culture, new hire policies and procedures.
Global Islami Bank Limited has a strong foundation in the principles of Islamic banking, which can be a unique strength in training and development programs focused on this niche area. The supervisors, experienced bank employees, provide real-time feedback on improving the quality of work. A flexible training module can be implemented to improve the skills of those who are unable to understand the flow of work.
Workload must be fair, otherwise it will lead to mental distress for new employees. Intense competition in the banking sector may require continuous improvement in training and development to stay ahead.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES DURING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
I NTRODUCTION
An internship is a structured period of employment that provides either current students or recent graduates with the opportunity to gain actual, hands-on experience in a particular sector or business. The main purpose of an internship is to give people the opportunity to apply their academic expertise to real-life situations, develop relevant skills and gain insight into a particular profession.
I NTERNSHIP A CTIVITIES
To assist the officers in obtaining various forms for opening accounts like current and savings accounts, FDRs, MDPS etc. During my internship, Tasrina Jahan Tanima, who is a trainee assistant at Global Islami Bank Limited, helped me a lot as she supervised most of my tasks.
L EARNING FROM THE I NTERNSHIP P ROGRAM
The training programs for interns offer insufficient pay, which can negate efficiency in the work flow. Training programs are usually short, leaving a gap in understanding the full scope of the job. Internal training programs are necessary, but external training programs should be arranged for a broader experience.
The training programs should be updated regularly to analyze the trainee's skill gaps and improve by adapting the training accordingly. The interns should be given real responsibilities that make them feel important, which can bring out their full potential and enforce positive motivation. For better performance, the training period should be extended because the banking industry uses a very broad algorithm and needs time to understand everything.
The HR department should encourage external training along with internal training for the trainees to gain more knowledge about practical approaches outside their comfort zone.
