Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kepedulian pembaca terhadap
kanker paru-paru di dalam novel, untuk mengetahui isu-isu utama yang
diperbincangkan oleh pembaca, untuk menggambarkan respon pembaca terhadap isu
kanker paru-paru, dan untuk menganalisis ulasan pembaca berdasarkan dengan latar
belakang mereka. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini
menggunakan dua sumber data. Sumber data pertama adalah salah satu website di
internet yaitu Goodreads.com. Sumber data yang kedua adalah dari sumber-sumber
lain yang berkaitan dengan penelitian ini seperti, jurnal/e-jurnal, buku-buku, buku
online, kamus, dan beberapa website yang mendukung penelitian ini. Dalam
penelitian ini menghasilkan beberapa kesimpulan. Pertama adalah terdapat 10 isu
utama yang diperbincangkan oleh pembaca. Kedua pendapat pembaca mengenai
kanker paru-paru dapat dilihat dari komentar positif dan negatif dari mereka.
Terakhir, pendapat pembaca dipengaruhi oleh latar belakang mereka.

The aims of this research is to analyze the readers concern towards lung cancer in the
novel, to find out the major issues responded by the readers, to described the readers
response towards lung cancer issue, and to analyzed the readers response related to
their backgrounds. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. This research
used two sources of the data. The first data source was from the one website on
internet namely Goodreads.com. The second data source was from the others source
which related to this research such as journal/e-journal, books, online books,
dictionary, and some website which support this research. In this research comes to
the several conclusions. The first is there are 10 major issues responded by the
readers. Second, the readers reviews towards lung cancer issue in the novel can be
seen from their positive and negative comments. Last, the readers response were
influenced by their backgrounds.
