Physic nut (Jatropha curcas 2) has been widely studied as source of biodiesel due to among other things its high oil content and its oil properties as biodiesel. However, the seed and its oil deteriorate during storage. One of the sign of the deterioration is the increase of acidity. The research consist of two activities. The first activity was conducted to evaluate the use of different packaging materials and storage condition on the properties of seed and physic nut oil. The seeds were stored in three types of plastic bags, i.e. paranet, polypropylene and nylon bags. The seeds packed in polypropylene and nylon bags were stored under normal and vacuum condition. The seeds were then stored at room temperature and 5 °C for 30 days. The results showed that seeds stored in plastic bag under normal and vacuum condition still meet Indonesian Standard for jatropha seeds after 30 days of storage. The best packaging material was polypropylene. Therefore polypropylene bag was used in the second activity. The aim of second activity was to study quality of seed and physic nut oil changes during stored. Seeds which it packed in paranet was stored at room temperature, while seeds which it packed in polypropylene was stored at room temperature and 5 oC. The results showed that quality deterioration of jatropha seed as shown the free fatty acid content was more quickly, when seeds packed in paranet.
