ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskribsikan prilaku campur kode di kalangan mahasiswa fakultas keguruan dan ilmu pendidikan jurusan bahasa Inggris Universitas Muslim Nusantara (UMN).Mengetahui hubungan peran, peristiwa campur kode dan alasan mereka dalam melakukan campur bahasa cersebut. Di samping itu diamati jenis-jenis kata, frasa dan klausa yang dipindahkan ke dalam sintaksis bahasa matriks.

Dalam pengumpulan data campur kode, penulis melakukan pengamatan langsung seperti wawancara dan merekam p e m b i c a r a a n m a h a s i s w a t e r s e b u t k e m u d i a n mentranskripkannya. Sedangkan data alasan campur kode dilakukan dengan menyebarkan angket kepada 40 mahasiswa yang duduk di semester 2,4,6 dan 8,masing-masing semester diwakili 10 peserta. Data alasan campur kode tersebut dianalisis berdasarkan skala nilai 1-5.

Hasil penelitian meliputi:Hubungan peran dengan teinan sekelas memiliki kriteria lebih banyak melakukan campur kode karena kurangnya kemampuan si pendengar dalam memahami bahasa yang diucapkan si pembicara. Pada

Peristiwa bahasa “menyapa” memiliki kriteria karena perubahan topik. Dari data campur kode diperoleh tiga jenis campur kode yaitu campur kode dalam bentuk kata 68,45%, (rasa 28,11% dan klausa sebanyak 3,44%.

ABSTRACT

The objective of this research is to describe a code mixing by the students of FKIP Bahasa Inggris. To know the role relationships and speech situation in doing code mixing and also the reason for doing code mixing in the English Student Community at UMN. Besides, it is also observed the types of code mixing phrases transferred to the language syntax matrix .

In collecting the code mixing data, the writer does interview and records the speech by direct observation the informal students language to the students of FKIP UMN. While, the reason for doing code mixing data is done by giving questionnaires to the 40 students. The reason for doing code mixing is analyzed based on the value scale 1-5.

The findings of the research are: The role relationship between student-student (class mate) has criteria because of the less knowledge of the listener in understanding the language pronounced by the speaker. The speech situation "greeting" has criteria because of the changes of topic. From the code mixing data, it is found that there are three types of code mixing.i.e. words code mixing, phrases code mixing and clause code mixing.
