Globalisasi di bidang ekonomi dan perdagangan bebas mangakibatkan
tingginya tingkat persaingan diantara perusahaan. Peningkatan kualitas produk
dengan penerapan Sistem Manajemen Kualitas ISO Seri 9000 merupakan langkah
yang ditempuh oleh perusahaan untuk menghadapi persaingan tersebut. PDAM
Tirtanadi Instalasi Pengolahan Air Deli Tua telah menerapkan Sistem Manajemen
Kualitas ISO Seri 9000 pada akhir tahun 2000.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Perbandingan Kualitas Air Minum
Sebelum dan Sesudah Penerapan Sistem Manajemen Kualits ISO Seri 9000 di
PDAM Tirtanadi Instalasi Pengolahan Air Deli Tua. Perbandingan dilaksanakan
terhadap variabel kualitas air yaitu pH, TUrbidity, dan chlorine. Penelitian ini juga
bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan sistem psrencanaan dan pengendalian
kualitas air minum sesuai dengan Sistem Manajemen Kualitas ISO Seri 9000.
Jumlah sampel yang digunakan untuk analisis ini adalah seluruh data kualitas
air minum selama 12 bulan (dua belas) bulan, yang dimulai dari bulan Juni 2000
sampai dengan bulan Mei 2001, yaitu sebanyak 6120 data untuk masing-masing
variabel pH, TUrbidity, dan chlorine.
Sumber data yang digunakan dalam
penelitian ini berasal dari Form Isian Data Kualitas Air Minum yang telah ada.
Pengujian hipotesis dengan menggunakan uji beda atau uji-t
(T-Test Two
Independent Sample)
pada tingkat kepercayaan 95%.
Diperoleh hasil pengolahan data untuk pH bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang
signifikan antara rata-rata pH air minum sebelum dan sesudah penerapan Sistem
Manajemen Kualitas ISO Seri 9000 di PDAM Tirtanadi Instalasi Pengolahan Air
Deli Tua. Nilai ph sesudah penerapan lebih sesuai dengan sasaran kualitas air
minum dibanding nilai ph sebelum penerapan Sistem Manajemen Kualitas ISO
Seri 9000.
Diperoleh hasil pengolahan data untuk turbidity bahwa terdapat
perbedaan yang signifikan antara rata-rata turbidity air minum sebelum dan
sesudah penerapan Sistem Manajemen Kualitas ISO Seri 9000 di PDAM Tirtanadi
Instalasi Pengolahan Air Deli Tua. Nilai turbidity sesudah penerapan lebih sesuai
dengan sasaran kualitas air minum yang ditetapkan dibanding nilai turbidity air
minum sebeJum penerapan Sistem Manajemen Kualitas ISO Seri 9000. Diperoleh
hasil pengolahan data untuk chlorine bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan
antara rata-rata chlorine air minum sebelum dan sesudah penerapan Sistem
Manajemen Kualitas ISO Seri 9000 di PDAM Tirtanadi Instalasi Pengolahan Air
Deli Tua. Nilai chlorine sesudah penerapan lebih optimal dari sebelurn penerapan
Sistem Manajemen Kualitas ISO Seri 9000.
Berdasarkan pengujian ketiga hipotesis maka dapat simpulkan bahwa
terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara rata-rata kualitas air minum sebelum
dan sesudah penerapan Sistem Manajemen Kualitas ISO Seri 9000 di PDAM
Tirtanadi Instalasi Pengolahan Air Deli Tua.
Berdasarkan pengamatan dan
penelitian di lapangan bahwa PDAM Tirtanadi Instalasi Pengolahan Air Deli Tua
telah melaksanakan operasional perusahaan sesuai dengan Sistem Manajemen
Kualitas ISO Seri 9000.

Globalization in Economic and Free Trade effects the highly increased
competition among companies around the world. And in order to face the
competition, companies should implement The Quality Management System ISO
9000 Series to increase the quality of products. Thus, by the end of the year 2000
PDAM Tirtanadi Water Treatment Installation Deli Tua implemented the Quality
Management System ISO 9000 Series.
The purpose of this research is to compare the drinking water quality before
and after the implementation of The Quality Management System ISO 9000 Series
at PDAM Tirtanadi Water Treatment Installation Deli Tua. The comparison is
treated towards the variables of water quality which are pH, turbidity, and chlorine.
Furthermore, this research is also done to know the implementation of the planning
system and quality control based on Quality Management System ISO 9000
Series.
Samples used for this study are all data
of
the drinking water quality during
12 months, started from June 2000 until May 2001. And there are 6120 datas for
each variables, pH, turbidity, and chlorine. The source of datas that are used for
this research dirived from the form of existing drinking water quality data.
Hypothesis test uses different test of T - Test ( T -

The result of pH data processing shows that there is a significant difference
between the average of drinking water pH before and after the implementation of
The Quality Management System ISO 9000 Series at PDAM Tirtanadi Water
Treatment Installation Deli Tua. The pH value after the implementation of The
Quality Management System ISO 9000 Series is better than before. The result of
turbidity data processing also shows a significant difference between the average
of tUrbidity drinking water before and after The Quality Management System ISO
9000 Series. The value of turbidity after the implementation of Quality Management
System ISO 9000 Series is better than the value of turbidity before that
implementation. And lastly, the chlorine data processing also shows a significant
difference between the average of drinking water chlorine before and after the
implementation of The Quality Management System ISO 9000 Series at PDAM
Tirtanadi Water Treatment Installation Deli Tua. The value of chlorine used after
the implementation is more optimal than before the implementation of The Quality
Management System ISO 9000 Series.
Based on the study, the 3 hypothesis proved that there is a significant
difference between drinking water quality before and after the implementation of
The Quality Management System ISO 9000 Series at PDAM Tirtanadi Water
Treatment Installation Deli Tua. Thus, observation and research in the field also
proved that PDAM Tirtanadi Water Treatment Installation Deli Tua has ran the
company's operations correctly according to the Quality Management System ISO
9000 Series.
