Pengasuhan dari orang tua terhadap anak akan menimbulkan kelekatan
antara anak dengan orang tuanya. Kelekatan (attachment) adalah sebuah proses berkembangnya ikatan emosional secara resiprokal (timbal balik) antara bayi atau anak dengan ibu atau pengasuh. Kedekatan hubungan fisik dan ikatan emosi yang kuat ini memungkinkan anak untuk mempunyai perasaan aman dan terlindungi. Pada setiap daerah tentunya mempunyai ciri khas yang berbeda dalam hal
pengasuhan dan pola perilaku lekat antara anak dengan orang tuanya. Begitu pula dengan keluarga suku Madura juga mempunyai kekhasan dalam hal pengasuhan anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pola attachment antara ibu dan anak pada keluarga suku Madura di Bondowoso.
Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif yang berlangsung selama 1 bulan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 3 subjek yang berusia antara 1 sampai 3 tahun yang diasuh oleh orang tuanya. Diambilnya anak dengan usia 1 sampai 3 tahun karena pada usia ini terjadi kecemasan terpisah (separation
anxiety) antara anak dengan ibunya sebagai obyek lekatnya. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi partisipan, sedangkan wawancara dilakukan pada ibu atau orang tua dan kerabat dekat subyek.
