ON CERTAIN PROPERTIES OF THE CLASS OF

GENERALIZED P-VALENT NON-BAZILEVIC FUNCTIONS

Khalida Inayat Noor, Ali Muhammad

Abstract. In this paper, we introduce a class Nk(p, λ, µ, ρ). We use

a method of the mathematical induction and study some of the interesting properties of the operators

Inα(f(z)) = α+ 1 zα+1

z Z

0

tα(Inα−1(f(t))dt,

where n∈N,α >1,in the classNk(p, λ, µ, ρ).

Keywords and phrases: Functions with positive real part,p-valent inte-gral operator, Non-Bazilevic functions.

1. Introduction

LetA(p) denote the class of functionsf(z) normalized by

f(z) =zp+ ∞

X

m=p+1

amzm, p∈N={1,2,3, ...} (1.1)

which are analytic and p-valent in the unit disk E ={z:z∈C,|z|<1}.

Let Pk(ρ) be the class of functions h(z) analytic in E satisfying the

propertiesh(0) = 1 and 2π Z

where z = reiθ, k ≥ 2 and 0 ≤ ρ ≤ 1. This class has been introduced in [7]. We note, for ρ = 0 we obtain the class defined and studied in [8], and for ρ= 0, k= 2, we have the well known class P of functions with positive real part. The casek= 2 gives the classP(ρ) of functions with positive real part greater than ρ. From (1.2) we can easily deduce that h∈Pk(ρ) if, and

only if, there exists h1, h2 ∈P(ρ) such that forz∈E, h(z) =

h2(z). (1.3)

Assume that 0< µ <1,a function f(z)∈A is in N(µ) if and only if

Re

>0, z∈E. (1.4)

N(µ) was introduced by Obradovic [5] recently, he called this class of func-tions to be of non-Bazilevic type. Until now, the class was studied in a direction of finding necessary conditions over µthat embeds this class into the class of univalent functions or its subclass, which is still an open problem. Definition 1.1. Let f(z) ∈ A(p). Then f ∈Nk(p, λ, α, ρ), if and only

, k≥2 and 0≤ρ <1. The powers are understood as principal values. For k= 2 and with different choices of p, λ, µ, ρ, these classes have been studied in [5, 9]. In particular N2(1,−1, µ,0) is the class of non-Bazilevic function studied in [5].

We now consider the integral operator defined in [2], as follows:

Inα(f(z)) = α+ 1 zα+1

z Z

0

tα(In−1(f(t)))dt, n∈N,

with initial gauss I0α(f(z)) =I0(f(z)) =

2. Preliminaries and main results

In order to prove our main result we shall need the following result. Lemma 2.1. [1]Let h(z) = 1 +c1z+c2z2

+...be analytic in E and let

h(z) +zh ′

(z) γ

∈Pk(ρ), f or Reγ >0, k≥2,0≤ρ <1.

Then

h(z)∈Pk(ρ0), z∈E.

where

ρ0= Reγ+ 2ρ|γ| 2

Reγ+ 2|γ|2 . (2.1)

Theorem 2.1. Let Reγ > 0 and f ∈ Nk(p, λ, µ, ρ). Then, for z ∈

E, Inαf ∈Pk(ρn),where

ρn=

[(1 +a)nan] +anρ0

(1 +a)n , (2.2)

with a= 2(α+ 1) and

ρ0 = |λ| 2

+ 2ρpµReλ

|λ|2+ 2pµReλ.

Proof. We use the method of Mathematical induction to prove this result. Let H0(z) = zp f(z) µ , where 0< µ <1.

By choosing a principal branch of

zp

f(z)

µ

we note thatH0(z) is ana-lytic in E withH0(0) = 1.Now by a simple computation, we have

(1 +λ)

zp

f(z)

µ −λzf

′ (z) pf(z) zp f(z) µ =

H0(z) +λzH ′ 0(z) pµ

∈Pk(ρ),

where z ∈ E, and from Lemma 2.1, withγ = pµ

λ, and Reγ = pµ

Reλ >0, it implies thatH0(z)∈Pk(ρ0),where

ρ0 = |λ|

2+ 2pµρReλ

(4)

Thus the result is true for n= 0. Forn= 1, we proceed as follows:

H1(z) =I1α(f(z)) = α+ 1

zα+1

z Z

0

tα(I0α(f(t)))dt, n∈N ∗

, α >1.

And so

H1(z) +zH ′ 1(z) α+ 1

∈Pk(ρ0), z ∈E.

Using again Lemma 2.1 with γ=α+ 1 we obtain that H1(z) =I1α(f(z))∈Pk(ρ1),

where

ρ1= 1 + 2(α+ 1)ρ0 1 + 2(α+ 1)

forz∈E,which shows that (2.2) holds true for n= 1.

Next we assume that the condition (2.2) holds true for n = m. This implies that

Hm(z) =Imα(f(z))∈Pk(ρm)

and

ρm=

[(1 +a)m−am] +amρ0

(1 +a)m , a= 2(1 +α)

Proceeding as before we see that

Hm+1(z) +

zH′

m+1(z) α+ 1

=Hm(z)∈Pk(ρm), z ∈E,

where

Hm+1(z) =Imα+1(f(z)) =

α+ 1 zα+1

z Z

0

tα(Im(f(t)))dt, α >−1.

This implies that

Hm+1(z)∈Pk(ρm+1)

where

ρm+1 =

1 +aρm

1 +a

ρm+1 =

1 +a

{(1 +a)mam}+amρ0

(1 +a)m

1 +a ρm+1 =

(1 +a)m+1am+1

+am

(5)

and

ρ0= |λ|

2+ 2ρpµReλ

|λ|2+ 2pµReλ

Therefore, we conclude thatInαf ∈Pk(ρn) for any integer n∈N∪ {0}.

For certain choices of ρ, µ, λ and k we obtain some partial results dis-cussed in [4, 6].
