ABSTRACT

ADIAMAN R.I PURBA. Effect of mixing bamboo on the quality of Oriented Strand Board under academic supervision of APRI HERI ISWANTO and IRAWATI AZHAR.

Currently, there are some problems in the development of the timber industry that is a lack of the raw materials of solid wood, thus giving a rise to alternative solutions use non-wood raw material is used as a material in the timber industry one is bamboo. Indonesia is one of countries that has the high diversity of bamboo. Based on these problems arose innovation to make OSB from the combination of bamboo. This study used the tali bamboo and betung bamboo, bonded with 5% of isocyanate. The research was conducted on December 2014 until April 2015 using a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. The resulting board combinations are B/B/B, T/T/T, B/T/B, T/B/T, B/TB/B, T/BT/T. From the research a combination of bamboo has increased the value of physical and mechanical properties of betung bamboo but reduced the mechanical and physical properties of the tali bamboo with a certain ratio. Result of the Scoring the best combination is a T/TB/T type.

ADIAMAN R I PURBA. Pengaruh Kombinasi Bambu Terhadap Kualitas Oriented Strand Board di bawah bibimbingan APRI HERI ISWANTO dan IRAWATI AZHAR.

Saat ini ada beberapa masalah dalam perkembangan industri kayu yaitu kurangnya bahan baku kayu solid, sehingga memunculkan solusi alternatif penggunaan bahan baku bukan kayu yang digunakan sebagai material dalam industri perkayuan salah satunya adalah bambu. Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang memilliki keanekaragaman bambu yang tinggi. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut muncullah inovasi untuk membuat OSB dari kombinasi bambu. Pada penelitian ini digunakan bambu tali dan bambu betung dengan perekat isosianat dengan kadar 5%. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2014 sampai April 2015 menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 ulangan. Papan kombinasi yang dihasilkan yaitu B/B/B, T/T/T, B/T/B, T/B/T, B/TB/B, T/BT/T. Dari hasil penelitian kombinasi bambu telah meningkatkan nilai fisis mekanis bambu betung namun menurunkan sifat fifis mekanis bambu tali dengan perbandingan tertentu. Dari hasil skoring papan kombinasi yang terbaik adalah kombinasi T/TB/T.
