Venice is a city in northern Italy. It has been known as the “Queen of the Adriatic”, “City of Bridges”, and “The City of Light”. The city stretches across 117 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea in northeast Italy.

Venice is world famous for its canals. It is built on an archipelago of 117 islands formed by about 150 canals in a shallow lagoon. The islands on which the city is built are connected by about 400 bridges. In the old centre, the canals serve the function of roads, and every form of transport is on water or on foot.

You can ride gondola there. It is the classical Venetian boat which nowadays is mostly used for tourists, or weddings, funerals, or other ceremonies. Now, most Venetians travel by motorised waterbuses which ply regular routes along the major canals and between the city’s islands. The city has many private boats. The only gondolas still in common use by Venetians are the Traghetti, foot passenger ferries crossing the Grand Canal at certain points without bridges.

Once a isherman named Batara Guru Sahala lived in Batakland. One day, he caught a ish. To his surprise, he found that the ish could talk! It begged Sahala to set it free. Sahala did accordingly.

As soon as the ish was free, it changed into a woman. She was so beautiful that the isherman fell in love with her at once. He asked her to marry him. The woman agreed to marry Sahala. However, she told him that he must never let out the secret that she was once a ish. Sahala promised her that he would not tell anyone about it.

They were happily married, and had two daughters. Every morning, Sahala went out ishing. His daughters would bring him his lunch. One day, however, instead of bringing the food to their father, the girls ate it. When Sahala learnt what they had done with his meal, he got very angry. He shouted at them, saying, “You behaved exactly like the daughters of a ish.”

The girls did not understand what their father meant. They went home and asked their mother about it. When they told her what he had said, she was very annoyed. Although Sahala apologized to her later, she would not forgive him for breaking his promise.

A galaxy is a collection of stars and other astronomical bodies, including planets, comets and asteroids, held together by gravity.

There are many different physical forms and measurements of galaxies. These include the spiral, barrel-spiral and elliptical. Our galaxy, called the Milky Way, is approximately 100,000 light years in width and contains over 100 billion stars.

The centre of galaxies can contain many young, very hot stars as well as older stars. Swirling clouds that have been energized by magnetic forces also exist in the centre.

At this point in time, no one knows the exact number of galaxies in the universe. Astronomers are, however, learning more and more about them everyday.

How’s life? Thanks for the letter telling about your holiday activities. Here, I want to tell you about mine.

Last holiday, my family and I went to the beach. We wanted to release the baby sea turtles from the Goa Cemara shore.

Goa Cemara is located in Bantul, Yogyakarta. The walk to the beach was pretty far, but very shady. It felt like we were in the Twilight movie scenes, a great for photo shoots! We adopted 5 baby turtles. Each turtle cost 10,000 rupiahs. The baby turtles were just hatched. They were so cute. I chose my turtle and named it Anjo. My sister Fia also chose one and named it Wora. Anjo and friends were very skittish in the box, and then right when we set them in the sand, they immediately got still. They did not make any movements.

We entered Anjo in the race. We were told by our guide that before the race began, we should face the little babies south so that when they came out to shore at night, they would remember which way to go. Cool, isn’t it? And the race began. I could see how energetic they were. What I noticed was that when they hit the water and were pushed back by the waves, the turtles ran faster as if knowing what was ahead of them. They were just about to get swept away by the ocean. It was my unforgettable experience with the baby sea turtles.

OPERATION AND USE

BEFORE FIRST USE

Before using your coffeemaker for the irst time, wash decanter/lid and removable ilter basket using a mild, non-abrasive detergent and water. Rinse each thoroughly.

Follow Steps 3 – 5 (Brewing Coffee) using water, to clean the inside.

BREWING COFFEE

1. Lift the lid for ilter basket and water reservoir access. Insert 4-Cup paper or permanent

ilter into the removable ilter basket.

2. Add desired amount of coffee, referring to the Coffee Measurement Chart. (See Page 7) Shake lightly to level coffee. Be sure the ilter is centered.

3. Fill the decanter with cold water to desired capacity as marked on the side of the decanter (1 cup = 5 oz). To brew 4 cups of coffee, ill the decanter to the 4-cup line.

4. Pour the water into the water reservoir. NOTE: For easy and accurate illing, refer to

cup markings on the water windows. Place the empty decanter onto the warming plate.

5. Plug the cord into the electrical outlet and turn your coffeemaker switch to the “ON” position. When the coffee stops lowing, the brewing cycle is complete. NOTE: The warming plate will keep your coffee piping hot until you turn your coffeemaker off.

6. After contents have cooled, carefully remove the ilter basket and discard the used

grounds and paper ilter or rinse clean the permanent ilter if you use it. Rinse the removable ilter basket and replace.

7. To make another pot of coffee, repeat Steps 1 – 6.

A stranger dressed in bright clothes arrived and said he could rid Hamelin of the rats. At night, the stranger began playing a tune on his lute, drawing all the rats out of the houses and barns and into the river, where they drowned.

The Mayor would not pay the piper because he said that playing a lute was not worth the reward. He ordered the piper to leave Hamelin.

But the piper came back one day, and started to play his lute. This time, all the children followed him, and he left the village towards the mountains. Suddenly, a cave opened in the mountain and the piper and all the children went in. The cave closed behind them and the children were never seen again in Hamelin.

The culture of Asia is human civilization in Asia. It features different kinds of cultural heritage of many nationalities, societies, and ethnic groups in the region, traditionally called a continent from a Western-centric perspective, of Asia. The region or “continent” is more commonly divided into more natural geographic and cultural sub regions, including Central Asia, East Asia, North Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia and West Asia. Although Asia is not a distinct continent geographically, there has been little unity or common history for many of the cultures and peoples of Asia. Asian art, music, and cuisine, as well as literature, are important parts of Asian culture. Eastern philosophy and religion also plays a major role, with Hinduism, Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism, Judaism and Islam all playing major roles. One of the most complex parts of Asian culture is the relationship between traditional cultures and the Western world.

Other cultural differences throughout Asia are Asian people’s adaptations to the climate zones of Asia, subtropical or tropical. The ethnic groups have adapted to mountains, deserts, grasslands, and forests. On the coasts of Asia, the ethnic groups have adopted various methods of harvest and transport. Some groups are primarily hunter-gatherers, some practice transhumance (nomadic lifestyle), others have been agrarian/rural for millennia and others are becoming industrial/urban. Some groups/countries of Asia are completely urban (Singapore and Hong Kong). The colonization of Asia was largely ended in the twentieth century, with national drives for independence and self-determination across the continent.
