This research deals with expressions of warning in Toshiba Satellite L630/L635 User's Manual. The aims of thi research are to identify the linguistics form and to describe the meaning of expressions of warning in Toshiba Satellite L630/L635 User's Manual.
The researcher employs the descriptive qualitative as a type of the research. The data source of this research is Toshiba Satellite L630/L635 User's Manual. The methods of collecting data observation and documentation. The steps are reading, finding out, and taking note the data. The techniques of analyzing data are describing the form by referring to linguistics form and analyzing the meaning based on the semantic theory. The method of analyzing data is descriptive technique.
This study shows the variety of the linguistics form and meaning of expressions of warning used in Toshiba Satellite L630/L635 User's Manual. The variants of linguistic forms are: (1) Declarative sentence, 25,71%, (2) Imperative sentence, 71,43%, and (3) Exclamatory sentence, 2,86%. The meaning of expressions of warning are presented by instruction (22,86%), prohibition (28,58%), condition (34,29%), alternative (5,71%), and information (8,56%).
