Abdah. 2013. Idioms Used in Real Steel Movie. Thesis, Palangka Raya: The State types of idioms in Reel Steal movie. The source of the data was taken from the script of Real Steel Movie. It is an Americanscience fictionsports drama filmthat was produced in 2011. The design of this study was descriptive qualitative research and the research type of this study is a document or content analysis.
The result of the study was totally found 77 Idioms as phrasal verb which the highest quantity of idiom as phrasal verb in the Real Steel movie’s script is a phrase “come on”, and it belongs to intransitive phrasal verb. The most particles in forming the verbs become a phrasal verb are a particle “up” which can be as an adverb and a preposition. From 77 idioms found, there are several idioms which have different speech function of one idiom so that the totally of all idioms become 86 idioms. The meanings of idioms as phrasal verbs mostly belong to “concrete meaning” and the meanings of idioms semantically mostly desribe “action” because the most idioms describe action done without direction from somebody. There are some idioms which have the same forms and words but they have different meaning according to the put on. The most frequently speech function type of idiom used in Real Steel movie is referential; it is because most of the idioms are uttered to provide the information. Then the most rarely used is the type of expressive.

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk, makna, dan jenis fungsi ucapan dalam film Real Steel. Sumber data diambil dari naskah film Real Steel yang merupakan science fictionsports drama filmAmerika yang diproduksi pada tahun 2011. Desain penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dan jenis penelitian ini adalah analisis dokumen atau isi (konten).
Secara keseluruhan hasil penelitian ini ditemukan 77 idiom sebagai phrasal verb yang mana jumlah terbesar idiom sebagai phrasal verb dalam naskah film Real Steel adalah phrasa “come on”, dan merupakan bentuk intransitive phrasal verb. Partikel yang paling bnyak dalam pembentukan kata kerja menjadi sebuah phrasal verb “up” yang mana bisa berfungsi sebagai keterangan dan kata depan. Dari 77 idiom yang ditemukan ada beberapa idiom yang memiliki fungsi ucapan yang berbeda-beda dari satu bentuk idiom sehingga total keseluruhan dari idiom menjadi 86 idiom. Sebagian besar idiom sebagai phrasal verb memiliki makna “konkret” dan makna idiom secara semantik sebagian besar menggambarkan tentang “tindakan” karena sebagian besar idiom menggambarkan tindakan yang dilakukan tanpa adanya perintah dari seseorang. Ada beberapa idiom yang memiliki bentuk yang sama tetapi memiliki arti yang berbeda berdasarkan konteks atau cerita dalam film; yaknislow down, dan put on.
Berdasarkan 6 fungsi ucapan, ditemukan tiga jenis fungsi ucapan sebagai berikut; referential, directive, and expressive. Ada tiga idiom yang mempunyai makna dan bentuk yang sama tetapi berbeda fungsi ucapan yakni; slow down, mess with, get back, look after, clean up, knock out, rise up, stand up, dan put on. Sebagian besar fungsi ucapan yang sering digunakan dal film Real Steel adalah referential karena sebagian besar idiom diucapkan untuk memberikan informasi, kemudian jenis fungsi ucapan yang paling jarang digunakan adalah jenis expressive.
